posted a message on Last Naxx or BRM?

I think you should get the wing that has the cards you are most likely to use in it. I.e I got first wing Black Rock over Naxx because Emperor and Quickshot are used in many of the decks i play. :) Best of luck!

I am grappling with that very question right now. I wanted Kel, but ET looks like it could help more. Honestly I can't decide which adventure has more to offer me. I understand that no one card will make a deck successful, it's the ability to work with the other cards, imo. I think the plan is to do the first wing of BRM, then start work on Nax, unless someone can give me a good reason to do otherwise.

Don't know how Zombie Chow ended up only in your honorable mentions. Without him, aggro would completely crush control or midrange imo. Would probably switch him with KT and KT as a honorable mention, as he is more of a win more card.

I'm about 2-3 months into the game. Highest rank I have achieved is 15. No Legendaries in my collection. I have enough gold to start the first wing of a solo adventure. Yea, it would be faster to just spend the $50 and buy both complete adventures, but I have a hard enough time justifying the amount of time currently spent playing....so that's out.

I wanted Kel, but after reading this thread, not many seem to think it's important. I still think I want to finish Nax to get Kel, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't complete the first wing of BRM to get the Emperor before starting Nax. Any tips would be great.

Nice! Have yet to see the split, but have hit the dummy a few times. Hitting it seems to be pretty random. 1/20.

I hope that answers your questions

Yes, beyond my expectations. I have been playing for about 2-3 weeks now, so I'm still just scratching the surface. Still trying to grasp how to best play each character. It appears you can have a favorite character but not an exclusive one, at least not at first. I liked the Shaman, but not many of the cards from the few packs I have bought were for that class. Creating a Face deck was a natural occurrence for a new player like me. The highest they have taken me is to 18 for a brief while.

Actually, this brings up a somewhat different but related issue.

Why are face decks so popular? Yes, they grind wins a little faster (if less consistently) and they ARE (admit it, come on) easier to play than other decktypes, but really, its the cost of it. And why do they cost less than say Control Warrior? Because you have to run so many Legendaries to make them work. You can't expect a deck who's using Force-Tank MAX or Stormwind Champion as the big bad to compete with anything. Compare Force-Tank MAX with Kel'Thuzad or Ragnaros  or Tirion Fordring, and you can see a fairly obvious disparity between them.

Whereas you have no good Legendaries or Epics on the lower end of things (Preparation is a special case, and even that can be replaced to a degree). So, basically the game encourages cheaper players to play low-mana decks by locking all the good high-mana cards behind a pay/grind wall. And the only good low-mana decks are the ones that rush face. Which is fine, but you can see what effect it's having on the community right here in this thread. Face decks aren't going to kill Hearthstone, but forcing players to play a hated decktype is.

    Good post.

I would just add that it's important to keep certain demographics in mind. The demographic that doesn't even net-deck, which is by far the majority demographic, actually is playing Champions and War Golems in place of Boom/Rag. They're also just throwing together what they think will work, and it usually doesn't for more reasons than just card quality, such as mana efficiency, role appreciation, etc. First, you have to impute to a group the willingness to net deck. And among the group who goes onto the internet to find out that their pet deck doesn't match up to the pro's, who exactly in that group lacks the commitment to the game to grind/pay for the cards they want? To me, I wonder whether the opposite is true. That people researching decks will also come across the idea that Face "Huntard" decks are cancer, take no skill, and will be disinclined to play them as a consequence.

Another unrelated note, the repeated ignorance of Hunter decks in these threads is always staggering. Hunter is probably not the fastest deck in the game in terms of average win turn. That's probably Mech Shaman. The reason people hate Hunter and not Mech Shaman is because Mech Shaman is easier to interact with and stabilize against.

Also, lol that Face Hunter takes no skill. So say the players playing at Rank 15 against stock Hunter decks. Even of all the streamers I watch (Trump, Amaz, ?), the most stubbornly misplayed deck is Face Hunter. Great players, but they can be caught reiterating that going face is correct nearly 100%, when that doesn't work it's variance (misusing the word "variance"), and that there's no point in learning to play the deck any other way. Then they drop the deck after going 0 for X with it. Who would have thought that each player has their own style, and tweaking a face deck to the field and getting disciplined with it is just not for some people.

My apologies. Could someone run down a list of terminology for me?

    Mech Shaman

    Face Hunter

    going face

    face decks

    control deck

    willingness to net deck

    rush face

    mana efficiency

    role appreciation

I'm glad we get more days to keep saving gold but couldn't they just say one date so I'll stop checking it every hour? This is the very definition of teasing. >.<

Sorry for the noobish question, but what do you mean? Does the gold reset along with the rankings at the end of the month/season?
