Rich_Piana posted a message on [F2P] Rank 50 - Legend in 15:12 hoursPosted in: General DiscussionHello folks,
Yesterday on the 25th of may I've grinded my way from rank 50 to legend in 15:12 hours on a brand new account without spending a single penny. Here's my story:Gif of the legend hitmark: https://gph.is/g/aXpjpxO
Tutorial - Rank 50
Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. I thought I'll just setup the stream, do the tutorial and go straight to ranked.
So I set the timer on at 16 hours and started. The stream recorded at 128p. My computer dropped frame-rates dramaticaly and I've had disconnects during the tutorial phase which made me do it again. Basically the first hour of the timer was me switch to another computer with better specs and getting the stream right. Once that was over with, I thought that the ranking could begin. Apperantly the starter quests don't begin unless you've cleared 5 games in solo adventure. I found this out after I played 2 games on rank 50 and lost both matches. Another 30 minutes gone. This was the only real set-back I had. From this way on things went pretty smoothly.Rank 49 - 5
I couldn't have wished for a better result. During these ranks I've only had 4 loses. The timer went from 1:30 to 8:30 during these ranks. Still 7:30 hours left for the last phase.Rank 5 - Legend
This is were the real grind started. My win-streak was over and the loses started to happen left and right. For the first 3 hours I was busy between rank 5 and rank 4 - 3 stars. I thought to myself "with this speed I'll never make it". Luckely after playing pretty 50-50 it went at a slow and steady phase, and it took another 3 hours and 45 minutes to get from rank 4 - 3 stars to legend.Final word
I'm overwelmed with joy after reaching this. But also confused. Eventho the poor preperation I've had it still took 3:14 hours less than the previous "record". So can this record be broken? Absolutely! With the right preperation and slightly quicker turns is very posible.I did this challenge for several reasons. Besides my love for competitive gameplay it was also something I did for the community. The amount of negetivity I see on the forums is sad. Seeing all the complaints about how the game is "Pay2Win" - "Only about luck" - "Highrolling" - ect. I get it, people want quick validation and quick rewards. Whenever there's something new, like a expansion, there are so many topics of how people hate the changes and what not. I know that one person can't make a change to that, but I hope that doing this challenge will shed some light on the people that see this game as a joke. A the end of this all I still had 21 packs unopened. Which could be enough to make another high-rank, perhaps legend worthy deck. All I can say is: Practice makes perfect. Learn from your mistakes and enjoy the game.
Special thanks to the friends that came over to keep me company (some traveled as long as 2:30 hours for this). And to Maurice040684 and Kingofjaga on twitch that kept me company pretty much the entire grind.

The_Edel_Bernal posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 9.20 - Discussion TopicPosted in: Fan CreationsI wonder how many different versions of Monkey King will show up in this competition...There's already one before this one.
The idea is straight forward, the Monkey KING turns your Bananas into Blessing of Kings. He's initially a tempo loss, but a few one mana +4/+4 can easily swing the tempo in your favor later.

GoT quote. :)I know I'm whining, I just wanted to learn people's thoughts about the topic with a sort of clickbait-y headline.

lMarcusl posted a message on More Hearthstone Changes - 18 Card Buffs (YES, BUFFS), Mech-vitational, New LegendaryPosted in: NewsLove what they're doing to Pocket Galaxy, Morrigan, Unexpected Results, Storm Bringer and Necromechanic. These cards are build-arounds and for a build-around to be good, it has to be usable. Same goes for unused flex cards like Violet Haze or Cloning Device. That said, I'm a bit worried about Thunderhead, and above all, Crystology. Crystology is already pretty important in Wild Control Pally, and it now costing mere 1 mana is utterly nuts, as it immediately curves into Thalnos or Novice, followed by Acolyte (or Stonehill, if you run it). Where previously the curving was awkward, with nothing to play on 1 unless you drew Protector, and Crystology coming at 2 yet drawing you a bunch of 2 drops, the curve is now so buttery smooth that it might become a bit too fast. Considering the deck already consistently outdrew Mechathun, this might become an issue. I've had quite a lot of success with the deck despite the Equality nerf and this might push it to even greater heights.

Vokraine posted a message on The Great Dalaran Heist Has Launched! Two Wings This Week, Is The Adventure Worth It?Posted in: NewsWhy it's not worth it with gold? You can disenchant golden Zayle and get 1600 dust - it's dust from 16 packs on average. So 12packs for 4 wings (first wing is free anyway) + 300 dust from golden classic pack + 1600 dust from golden legendary= 12+19 (1 pack = 100 dust on average) = 31 packs for 2800 gold.

user-14157642 posted a message on The Great Dalaran Heist Has Launched! Two Wings This Week, Is The Adventure Worth It?Posted in: NewsFrom my first impression it looks rather good. Because of anomaly mode it should provide also a lot of replayability. That said though in my opinion it's only slightly better than dungeon run / monster hunt. Many different and random starting conditions are good, but not much of an improvement. That friendly tavern encounter is also nice, but the options there seem way too insignificant. And just like previously with only 8 bosses you might never get the chance to try out this or that cool thing. I'm still going to buy it because it looks awesome as usual, but considering it was free before it seems extremely expensive. Luckily most other people also care about the rewards (I don't except for the card backs because I always "buy the expansion" on launch day) and as explained above if you can make use of those packs and buy with real money you basically get the adventure "for free" or "as a bonus".
So overall pretty good, but could be better. But of course why should they do it if it doesn't make them more money? "Never lucky". I personally would love to spend more on better single player content, but for now it seems most would not. "Never lucky"..., again. Let's see how it will continue. I also didn't tried anomaly mode yet. Maybe it's better than I think. But even then there would still be much room for improvement. Most importanly better deck refinement and an endless mode. I always hate to end up with garbage decks and that if I can make an awesome deck I have to retire it even though I didn't even get a chance to see all possible craziness that could be pulled off with it.

Instead, I'll be spending most of my time in the Heist until we see some goddamn nerfs.

While I like the adventure, it is way too easy. Took me no effort at all to finish the new chapter and the normal mode seemed while balanced not enough of a challenge. Well, I'll have to try heroic.
1
As far as I read it: Anomaly mode will be opened if you completed the wings. It isn't behind a paywall.

In my experience, Sephira Dusktalon with Boom always wins against Vex, no matter what Hero Vex chooses. And she's also good against Ivan, But if you choose Sephira, do not chose Lazul as a hero, it isn't as good as ist looks. (Just what I learned in about a dozen matches with/against her)

Nobody is surprised by such angry posts:
it has become normal to rage about certain themes, people are just enforcing stereotypes here. Everyone may hate upon big priests, whiny FTPs, arrogant PTWs, and doubting Team 5's decisions is open for all. So, while salty posts and threads are often more interesting to read, they also make you more perceptive to faults. If you didn't knew "Netdecking is evil" you might see netdecks as a fair choice, the natural outcome of a deck-evolution. So, with enforced stereotypes and complete anonymity you return here an write what hundreds of others wrote before, which is just the following of a salty culture here.

Whizbang! Obviously the cheapest choice. And afterwards I can see which cards to craft.

Does this count for: "Played an elemental last turn"?

Well, Schmetterling sounds less mundane than butterfly. Also, Schmetterling :schmetter=to smash, -ling= Sylabe mostly used to tell you something is small; IS a ridiculous word.

I can't speak for the America or Asian Ladder Experience, but at least at the EU servers between rank 20 and 10 I met like 0.5%Piratewarriors, 6% Big Priests and also about 5%Burn Mages and only 2% Jade Druids. While you may have experienced something else, here at the EU servers wild seems really diverse (and I played a lot last month).

1:when I surely can win next turn/or if my opponent will win. (I don't emote well played if they played really bad or rope/spam emotes)
2: when they made a very good play.

Such a deck strategy would become known as Brutal Hunter, for the frequent and planned killing of cute little one-drops.
But seems decent, strategywise.
