posted a message on Hearthpwn Forge Update

Hey guys, I enjoy using the Forge tool that there is on this site as I don't have beta access currently and it gives me a nice little sneak peek at the Arena and how will it be in the actual game. However, I was wondering if the Forge tool has been updated to match the Arena in the actual game, mainly the factor that you can have more than 2 of the same card in your deck? If not it'd be really cool to add it, so the simulator can be a bit more accurate, thanks.

I mean you can't heal a full health target and draw, has to be damaged.

Except you don't have that many draw cards. You have Novice Engineer, which yes is a guaranteed draw, but the rest are situational draw that you won't just throw down. I doubt you'll just throw out Fade, you definitely won't just throw out Mass Dispell, Northshire Cleric doesn't proc from fake healing so you need some damage to go out, which might not happen before she is removed, so you only have one guaranteed draw card, and that's the Engineer.

Not a big fan of these Lightspawn/Lightwell decks. Inner Fires, and Divine Spirits are essentially dead cards until you get either of them out, and by the time you get them out your opponent may have created so much board advantage that they'll be dead on the board too. Also it is so much investment into a card that will then just get Assassinated, or Siphon Souled, and then you're left with basically nothing unless you get lucky and have Auchenai Soulpriest, with Velen, on the board and then you pull off the greatest Greater Heal burst in the game, but the chances of that are slim. I feel like priests should be focusing more on consistency and control, with card advantage and creating small victories as opposed to getting some giant out that wins you the game, because the chances of that happening is not very high.

However, if you do want to stick with this, you should definitely throw in some taunt, because you will need defence to get to your Lightspawn/Lightwell, as well as protection for them. Velen also doesn't seem that amazing for this deck, I don't really see much he can do with what you have to work with, so you could put another card in place of him. Fade is an okay card, but it will also be a dead card until you have something to play it on, which means it again, has to wait for your Lightspawn/Lightwell to get out and be Divine Spirited, and Inner Fired. Also I think Circle of Healing is kind of weird too, it's a decent card, but I don't really see what it's doing in this deck. Unless it's there to be removal when the Soulpriest comes down, which I guess is fine.

    posted a message on "Taunts"

I feel like a lot of people look at taunt minions as cannon fodder in this game and they're just bodies to hide and save your ass. No one really looks at them as a card that's like "Oh I'm going to play my Shieldmasta and win the game!" that's my thoughts on why people just look at their cards as a "taunt" card not an Ironfur Grizzly.

posted a message on Hearthstone "End Game" - some thoughts

MtG is a different beast with more options because it's done manual and in person. MtG also has phases which create a different dynamic. For example, we will most likely not see any Instants in Hearthstone anytime soon, Blizzard has said they want to stay clear of those kinds of things because they slow down the gameplay by having to wait for the player to decide to play the instant or not. I'm sure with time that the card database will grow larger, and we'll see some new mechanics eventually overtime that add to the dynamic of Hearthstone.

Also Blizzard isn't targeting the hardcore TCG/CCG community, they are targeting casual play, with the potential for hardcore play. Therefore, they are looking to create more simple gameplay.

Can do some Rogue combos with one or two Mana Addicts out and a bunch of 0-2 cost spells. Obviously works better in the late game where you have more cards in hand, but nonetheless I'm sure if  the cards are in your favour you can pull it off.

posted a message on Understanding Strategies

When it comes to deck building there's a few things you need to keep in mind. Mana curve, card advantage, draw power, and control, and board position. These are the things you want to have in your deck. A lot of the cards in that deck don't really make sense with each other, and don't really work towards a common goal, and end game. This is understandable considering you went into the Forge to craft the deck. I would suggest looking at the card database, and specifically at the class cards. The class cards give you an idea of what kinda cards you want to put in the deck. For paladins, you will notice some variance in the cards, but most paladin decks focus on some Divine Shield with low cost cards. In my opinion healing cards in Paladin decks aren't that amazing, because you aren't going for any early game stall, so you want to focus on Taunt minions, and low cost minions for early game, and then some bigger minions such as Argent Commander for the late game.

posted a message on More Heroes In The Future?

This game is still in closed beta and still hasn't even had a massive amount of people playing it, but I'm sure that Blizzard will start looking into consumer requests if the game becomes increasingly popular. Blizzard has a whole is pretty good at being at the beck and call of consumers and adding various cosmetic features, such as transmog in World of Warcraft, so I'm sure we'll see some cosmetic options in the future.

I THINK they said that you can get the Golden beta card from open beta as well, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe that's what I saw.

When you purchase card packs or an Arena ticket in any phase of the beta test, you will be granted the golden Gelbin Mekkatorque

posted a message on Rogue Pirate deck

Might want to consider removing Nat Pagle, I feel like he's a waste of space in most decks. He can be removed easily, and only has a 50% chance to draw, not worth it in my opinion. Adrenaline Rush is not in the game, it was replaced by Shiv. As far as weapons go I think Perdition's Blade is pretty lackluster. Conceal doesn't seem that amazing in this deck because don't really see what you plan on stealthing for a turn, but in can work. Should work in an Assassinate for strong removal, as well as maybe a second Backstab. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to bad.

Good to see someone who at least knows what they're doing go at it, was watching Kripp yesterday and he had nfi what he was doing D:

Kripp is a pretty kickass gamer; card games are a genre in and of themselves, and I don't think RPG/Action game skills translate very well to it. There are parallels (learn to think fast!), but nothing as far as mechanics go!

Kripp has actually played MTG and he's pretty quick to pick up games, so I'm sure he will eventually get pretty good, but of course not as good as Noxious the God of the Arena.

posted a message on What card is a must have in every arena deck ?

Novice Engineer is one of my personal favourites. Early body with some draw? Yes please. Definitely agree with the Shieldmasta as well though, great card, and very efficient, and reliable.
