There is saying-”If you do not buy the product then you are the product”-. We must not kid ourselves, the game would not be without paying players BUT at the same time the game would not be successful if not for the F2P players, hence the absolute lackluster ”succes” of card-games such as Artifact. People pay for the advantage, how many of the ”supporters” would still pay if everybody got the same number of cards no matter the contribution, donation style? very, very few. You can also argue that getting certain cards to make certain decks is part of the experience of the game, also collecting all the cards can lead to one form of ”winning the game”. For me collecting as much as possible starting from a base of top 3 decks of the meta, works. I m having fun getting diamond 5 in like 3-4 hours, i m having fun grinding the arena, taverns, managing the collection and most of all opening those sweet packs.
I consider 60 packs to be a good base to start the expansion, you get all the rares, few epics, 3 legendaries. After that you go in the arena and get the dust for the rest of the stuff you need. For collectors i think 180-200 packs will get full collection, i used to thrive for full collection, now is more on having the everlasting legendaries for wild, nzoth/cthun/thaurissan type of cards.
I calculated around 270, i also came by the sheet presented saying 273( the math took a lot more things into consideration). Until now you needed between 315-350 to get full. It is cheaper. It really helps people that only get packs until full rares.
If you have a nong golden and one golden the game registers that you won 2 copies, if you delete the golden you will not get another filler for that spot until you have all other cards of the same rarity. Now, once you do get all cards of the same rarity and delete the golden it is uncertain if you indeed get a replacement for it or you start getting a random cards as before this expansion, im going to test it out and come back with clarification.
No, you should get the deck, you count as a returning player if you had a break of minimum 4 months before 17.03.2020. I gave advice to a friend who hadnt played in quite a while, he entered before the patch, he bought all golden HOF cards, he entered after the patch got all dust, also got a new deck. Is it possible you also antered the game this winter and forgot? Only then it is certain that the game won t register you as a returning player.
