I have never had a great arena deck. They're decent at best. some good cards and lot of crap. But I'm constantly playing people with insane decks. just lost to a druid who played two Eerie Statues and then a Wailing Soul. Like how the hell would you EVER plan for building that deck? No one would ever pick those cards when offered but he was able to build a deck around them. And then there's just the perfectly built constructed deck that someone gets to draft. Oh really, you have a freeze mage in arena? Oh look a dragon priest down to every last card.
How does this happen? My last draft some of my best picks were like Scarlet Crusader and Force Tank Max. I just don't get how some people get such perfect decks so often and I'm stuck with playing which trash card do you want to crowd your trash deck with?
Sometimes you need to take risks and that's how you may get those amazing decks.
Last week I was offered as 1st card Anyfin Can Happen , I took it and was risking to not get even one murloc. I ended up with 4 murloc, Murloc Warleader was one of them. So my 1st card could have been a total bust but it ended to be a good choice.
Same goes for synergies, f.ex. if you are offered a mech at the start of your choice, ask yourself does my hero has enough cards that synergies well with this type of card? F.ex. beasts with druids and hunters
Just go to adwcta's arena guide and it will help u make better decisions in drafting. I'm sure a lot of people do it, and its great for starters, or when new cards are released.

Thats a pretty terrible strategy in a long run, even the beasts in hunter, to get an average beast over a great (better) card, just cause hunter has beast synergy is a pretty bad choise. But can sure make for some memorable runs, like yours with Anyfin Can Happen i guess :)
