I played a lot of dual class arena during the week for me, probably at least twenty games, and i really don't remember getting less than five wins. And now I played my first game of arena since and of course I go 1/3, can't say I had fun. I'm not normally a huge arena player, often I'll just buy packs with my gold instead of bothering to arena at all.
I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and why that would be the case. I just don't get why my win rate was so much higher.
Short term variance - Over a small sample size someone can perform really well or really poorly. The DC arena event did have a different meta that required adjusting.
Influx of newer players - lots of new players looking to try out the event, less experienced players of all levels and ranks.
Higher frequency of powerful cards - with 2 classes worth of offerings, card choices are more obvious, making decks in general a bit more powerful.
More polarizing meta - games were either really short or really long (probably due to increased offerings of class cards that helped certain deck archetypes ie. Hunter fast, Priest slow) . Both types of games covers gaps in your drafts so mistakes while drafting are not obvious.
The power of decks was totally different ... it was a high roll RNGfiesta ... back to curvestone and board control. U need to adjust your drafts and playstyle again, u cant be playin the same as u were yesterday.
You were not better. It was a an entirely new meta for arena so nobody knew what to draft and some hero combinations were just ridiculously op compared to others.
Any large consistent improvement beyond 3 win average cannot be chalked up to RNG craziness, because that should even out over time. If anything RNG would put you down closer to 3 win average if you are usually above it.
There had to be tons of infrequent arena players (free tix will do that at least) and/or tons of people that had no idea how to adapt. (Maybe Heartharena crutch.)
While the spell offering rate was high and we don't necessarily need dual class, I got to say KoFT curvestone feels pretty dull by comparison. If we don't get another un'goro-like experience in KaC, we are going to need another shakeup.

Rofl, just not ever again an UnGoro like arena, please! ... i dont want to play vs opponents who conjure whatever crap they need at any given situation from a thin air ...
1) More inexperienced arena players trying out the new dual class thing that experienced players will have an easier time outplaying.
2) An unfamiliar meta in which the players who are actually good and can adapt will be stronger than other players. Thus, the differences in skill between players should be more impactful in winrates. (Dumb RNG luck will still always happen, of course, but there are more opportunities for skill to shine, rather than watching your opponent topdeck Flamestrike)
It's also possible you simply experienced a lucky streak, but good players should statistically have done better than average and poor players done statistically worse than average during this event, so it might not have been just RNG.

Just some opinions based on my experiences.

The main reason is free tickets so all the noobs played at least 1 arena. I had 12 or 13 arenas in a row with 8 wins or higher result.
I've smoked a lot of ganja dust so I'm forever not2fast.
