I've come from a far away land this season, I managed to climb from rank 15 to 7th. this happens to be my 2nd full season of playing hearthstone. I really want to get one last push for legend if not at least rank 5 to avoid the long ladder climb from 10th and beyond.
I took a peak at deck popularity from 7th to 1st. it seems i should be preparing for almost a 7-10% usage for Even Warlock, 6-9% Shudderwock Shaman, 5-8%Odd Paladin, and 6-9% Taunt Druid.
The obvious choice Even Warlock or Odd Paladin with highest EWR. Do you guys feel that there is different obvious choice vs these 2 deck types? My current collection really allows me to build a variety of decks other than Odd Paladin or Even Warlock like:
Even Shaman
Odd Rogue
Recruit Hunter
Spell Hunter
Shudderwock Shaman
Quest Warrior
Miracle Rogue
Tempo Mage
Should i just stick with whats working currently which is Odd Paladin or do take into consideration this is probably the hardest part of the ladder i should prepare for these next for ranks differently?
I got to legend with recruit hunter, but I had much more time than you. I don't think it's possible to reach legend from rank 7 in a few hours.
BTW, this is your second season playing HS (meaning you are playing for 2 months) and you already have almost every card for all the meta decks? Are you throwing all your paychecks at this game or is there some other secret? Please share
Hate to be "that guy" but getting to Rank 7 to Legend in less than a day, when you've never been there before, is incredibly unlikely. Most streamers take a few days to go from Rank 4 to Legend at the start of the season, and these are people who play Hearthstone for a living and grind Legend month after month.
To put it into perspective, getting from 5 to Legend usually takes longer to than rank 25 to 5, as you can no longer rely on winstreaks.
A more realistic goal is to get to Rank 6 today, begin at Rank 10 tomorrow after the reset and hit the ground running. Play something with quick wins/losses.

i agree time is very limited 9hrs till the new season. What i meant was this is my 2nd season actually trying to play ranked. I first started playing in 02/18 but, just for f2p. I waited til the Witchwood expansion til actually start buying decks. I basically just bought the $20 pack every other week and dusted all my golden cards to build these decks. I also play arena and complete all the quest plus a refresh to 100gold 100 dust. I try to optimize all the f2p perks for deck building.
with recruit hunter did you utilize a card that deviated from the standard deck? a certain card that helped you significantly reach legend?
I would shoot for 5 rather than Legend to get that golden epic. Legend rewards are no better than rank 5, and then next season you’ll have a great rank to get going towards legend.

I was just mentioning this with the time crunch i dont realistically see myself getting there. you mention win streaks, i notice i experience a lot of that between rank 11-7. i would go on crazy heaters 11 games straight without a lost at one point. are you saying the player pool is that much more improved where i cant even consider a 3 streak for additional stars?

You no longer get extra star for winstreak once you're rank 5.

No, there are actually no bonus stars at all after rank 5. Winning three in a row nets you three stars, and nothing more.

No, you just don't get any extra stars even if would win 3 in a row.

As said above, rank 5 should be hard enough already. I myself climbed from 10 to 7 this month but I haven't been able to get past that since I only played with tier 3 decks (getting bored of the meta).
But reaching 5 for the first time feels really good, and you might be lucky on the golden epic you'd get
I have played this game over 4 years already, but I have never had the motivation to climb higher than 4, because it's such a grind. I always happy if I manage to hit 5 and that's where you should aim too, at least this season. Next season start climbing early for that legend rank, but be patient, because it takes time!
realistically rank5-legend takes around 80-150 games depending on your winrates which may be greatly affected by local metas at certain ranks and other factors like time and luck. that's why it's called the grind. without winstreaks you actually have to win 26 games more than you loose. that takes time. usually a lot more than lowrank winstreaks...
example: if your deck can manage a constant 60% winrate it will take you an average of 115 games from rank 5 to legend. with a 56% wr it takes around 178 games. in this second example if you started at rank 10 instead of 5 it would take you about 258 games instead of 178*2=356. this shows how much easier it is to gain 5 ranks below r5 compared to the r5-legend push: it is 225% harder to rank above r5 because of the lack of winstreak bonus stars

Legend? No, but 5 is still realistic goal.
Golden heroes: Warlock, Druid, Mage, Hunter

No, just a standard recruit hunter :-)
I think ill try my best but, my goal should ultimately be rank 5. i feel that this would be a huge accomplishment for me.

noooo, i did not know that. feels bad man
That is why it's called grind

I got to Legend rank already and got the card back. So now push mainly to 5 area (Working Man)
play mostly few hours on weekends.
This month I am at rank 3 wild and have no motivation to grind Legend again (chest same as 5)
But the first Legend was amazing feeling.
I recommend to push at least once to Legend rank.

Did OP make it?
No sir, feels bad. i ended up at rank 6. going to try for legend this month considering it's only from 10 instead of 15 like last season.
