if we stick to an expansion with specific card pool rules -like, Kobolds and Catacombs requiring a spellstone and a Legendary weapon, League of Evil requiring a scheme or a twin spell, or Saviors of Uldum requiring a quest-, do our classes have to stick with them as well?
Well since DH got a Dormant minion but no Prime legendary in AoO, I'd argue that contestants should be allowed to choose which of the the expension's card cycles they want to use.
At last ! I'm very excited for this new competition !
10 cards/week sounds reasonable to me but for the last week I'm not sure that AoO is a great fit. The expansion's theme was chosen specificaly to work with the flavor of Demon Hunter and it seems to be part of the new class addation process. I'm not sure of what would be the best way to incorporate that element into the competition (designing a complete expansion is obviously too much work) but I have a few ideas.
The easy way is to let contestantes choose one Hearthstone expansion that fits their custom class. It would be like their class was introduced at the release of that expansion. The hard way is to ask contestants to outline a new expension that would serve as an introduction to their class. Not a full design, just flavor guidlines.
This could be integrated into the design aspect of the competition in the form of sample cards for each official hearthstone class. Maybe it could be it's own week, with 1 or 2 cards for each class, or maybe it could be 3 to 5 cards each week along with that week's phase.
This might not be necessary at all to the competition but I think it would be cool if contestants had a little more control over the final expansion design.
