Note that echo cards work as well since echoed cards are always at the right-most side of your hand and it happens in this order : Spell is cast, Luna draws a card, then echoed spell returns to the hand at the right-most side
Incoming: Mage's legendary spell is a cheap Echo card.
This + Fire Fly = 5 mana, 4/8 stats, draw 2 (or 1 depending on where the fire fly was in your hand). Maybe that's something?
Strike all of that, I think the Fire Elemental would be added, and then the card will be drawn.
I do think Kaladin has a point in that this competes with Specters and Aluneth, and even AI. It's a fine card, it just faces strong competition from more direct sources of card draw.
So Brann was bad because you had to wait for a good battlecry before you could play it or because it was a weak turn 3 play? You obviously play it when you can guarantee the draw then hope for a cheap topdeck, which is quite likely in a low-curve deck like aggro mage.
Brann was unique in a way that this card isn't. Card draw is plentiful in Mage these days. If this was in something like Shaman, I'd be a lot more excited.
...this probably sees play in a Reno deck in Wild though.
As mage keeps getting pushed in a more Zoo-y direction, I can see could have some use. It can turn things like your trash mob murlocs into Carnassa's Brood.
I think it's a fine card that people will experiment with but will ultimately be deemed unnecessary. Redundancy is never something to be ignored though.
