This is exactly why Hearthstone is so hostile to the F2P model
The hostile thing are actually the duplicates. I received a decent number of epics in my KaC pack opening but ended up with 8x Shimmering Courser and 5x Cataclysm. Gwent for example lets you choose the card with highest rarity in a pack which is quite a fair F2P-Model. Don't expect this from Blizzard, but some kind of internal counter (similar to the pity counter) preventing to get more than let's say 4 copies of an epic card would definitely help F2P players.
For OP: If you don't want to spend money, stick with the deck of you choice and craft the epics you miss. Alternatively, check popular epics that fit in many decks. Corridor Creeper would be a great example for this. It's probably the safest craft from your list.
