Almost 7 months ago I started this thread. My game improved a lot since then and now I can proudly say I made the EU Leaderboard for the first time, 74th with a 7.90 average : )
Huge thanks to Auto (Winni on Hearthpwn), Zuchi (same name on Hearthpwn), NoWayOut (Trickzy on Hearthpwn) and probably some others who I might have forgotten, for helping me improve my game and cooping a part of the Leaderboardrun games with me, learned a lot from all of you! Also, thanks to true topplayer Zashiki from this thread for the advice you gave me when I asked you annoying draft-related questions again : p
Unfortunately I got close to getting sick of the game because of the huge volume of games in a relatively short time so I might not try again for a while.
If I like the new expansion meta though a few months, who knows..
@hintM, the getting burned out on Hearthstone when playing it this much is really relatible. Averaging 1 run a day is really a lot, at least for me.
After being at exactly 7.00 after 18 runs I got on a heater, 'last' 3 runs (run 1 was started in last month so scary and 4 wins so was always gonna do at least 21 before Hallow's End) 12-0, 12-2, 12-0, all three with Warlock, making my best streak of 20 7.90 on average, really hope it's enough for EU leaderboard.
My run 6 was 11 so was never going to try and better that but run 2, 3, 4, 5 were 7 , 7, 9, 7, tried to better that but went 6 and 5 and gave up.
Average over last 100 runs is now 6.06, next goal will be 6.50 : )
I don't know if it's luck, if I got better or average opponent skill dropped but my average amount of wins this month is far higher than it's ever been for me. Currently at 7.44 over 18 runs, unfortunately with a 2-3 Rogue run in there where I just faced 3 really strong opponents early on. Actually, I have a huge problem with finding the time to do one run/day on average, therefore I would be really pissed if Halloween event runs wouldn't count (cause I absolutely won't be able to get to 30 before the 24th). I like the fact Blizzard comes up with a special Arena event but as a player going for the Leaderboard I also find it kind of weird we only hear this now, would've prefered hearing it before I decided to go for it this month.
@Zashiki, interesting your strongest class is Hunter, I haven't tried it yet. My MVP is Warlock, 3 runs completed (12-2, 9-3, 12-0) and now on a 6-1 with it. What are your results with the class? (Cool thing is that I'm 11-0 against Warlocks this month, making it my best matchup)
Very well done Zashiki, must feel sweet to break your personal record as well : )
To motivate myself to get better at playing Arena I keep track of my rolling average over the last 100 runs. With 215 runs in total I now have 115 of these averages. After a pretty swingy period it started rising again, it's at 5.78 now : )
(7 Runs in this season I have a 7,3 average. Definitely the highest I ever had even over such a small sample. Let's keep this up and dodge the 2- or 3-win runs)
Congratulations to everyone who made the lists! I only played 10 runs since my last post in the end of April. My average over the last 100 runs grew from 5.48 to 5.65 : ) At this speed it should be only like 6 months until I've reached the 6.0 average wins/run : p
I removed April from the thread title. Since we're mostly talking with the same people here I didn't really see much use in making a new thread specifically for May.
Wow, really nice! Hopefully it will be enough for the US April top 100. I played 32 runs last month with a 5.72 average. New record for me so pretty happy. Because I probably won't have enough time to play 30 runs in a month for the rest of the year (not that I would make the list if I would have enough time : p) I started my own challenge. I keep track of the average of my last 100 runs in Excel and try to get this higher, it's at 5.48 now, next milestone would be 6.0. The sheet also shows which score will fall out of the list when I complete another run (the current run 1/100, 99 runs ago), which motivates a lot on the short term. Next one is 3 wins and I'm going to draft a Paladin next so bumping up the average should be pretty easy, going for the 8th 'grow or stay the same' in a row. With a total of 155 runs since I started playing arena I have the following 55 averages:
10 Runs with a 9.2 average says nothing, you could totally be on an upswing (just wildly guessing 9.2 isn't your true average). What's your average over the last 100 runs?
25 runs in my average is exactly 5.68, which is my record. Pretty confident I'm gonna break that this month :)
Paladin 8.2 with 5 runs (12, 4, 7, 11, 7) @Zashiki, is 5 runs a decent sample? Hunter 7 with 5 runs (7, 6, 3, 8, 11) Warlock 6 with 3 runs (7, 2, 9) Shaman 5 with 1 run Druid 5 with 1 run Rogue 4.6 with 5 runs (6, 6, 1(!), 3, 7) Mage 3.2(!) with 4 runs (5, 1, 5, 2) Priest 2 with 1 run (was more to test it actually, and it sucked as much as expected)
I played 8 runs in the first 3 days, then I got a legendary card from a MSG pack and decided to start playing again when Un'Goro was out because of the pity timer.
2 x Rogue: 6 / 6 3 x Mage: 5 / 1 / 5 3 x Warlock: 7 / 2 / 9
That means 5.1 average 8 runs in, the 2-3 and the 1-3 were back to back so that sucked :p
I'm pretty sure a run already started last month and finished this month counts for April. Went to sleep last night with a run standing at 6-1 all hopeful aaaand 6-3 this morning :p
This is the new thread for everyone trying to make the April top 100 list in their region(s). Last month I played 28 runs with an 5.32 average, which was also the highest average during the month, so pretty hopeless when it comes to reaching the list. But don't panic, this guy is way to stubborn to give up after two failed attempts. Looking forward to seeing the new Meta erupt and *Adapt-pun* and yadda yadda.
Stats from last month:
28 runs, 5.3 average 4 x Hunter (average 7.8) 3 x Rogue (average 6.3) 5 x Priest (average 5) 8 x Mage (average 4.8) 5 x Warlock (average 4.8) 3 x Shaman (average 4)
Only 1 x 12 wins, with Hunter 12-2
