That's technically not a problem with our site, but a problem with the way Blizzard put out it's patches this go around.
Usually the patch with the new cards in it gets added to the game shortly before the expansion goes live. With it we import the cards from the game to our database....which sets the new cards to being released (since they are in the game files now).
That's usually fine cause only a short time between. In this case though there's nearly 2 weeks in between, with an important Ranked season change to boot.
The only way to have prevented your problem with our current set up would have been to manually go through the whole card set of Ashes of Outland and set them all to "unreleased" again, and then to go in on release day and flip the whole set back to released.
I will bring this issue up with the devs to see if there's something we can do about this for next go around, but I'm afraid it's not something we can fix right now.

I was looking for a new rogue deck to play and I applied "standard" and "do not include unreleased cards" and got this as my top choice:
https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1337335-ashes-of-outland-highlander
It contains many unreleased cards, so I am thinking those filters are no longer working.

Ah, thanks for the explanation. I can understand why that would be a problem.
