I'm going to post this as a general warning if you are trying to get Innkeeper to work and are running ZoneAlarm. I'll preface this with the note that apparently a new Innkeeper patch just went out that might have fixed the problem (something about signing dlls and such), but I uninstalled ZoneAlarm before the patch went up so I can't verify it that helped or not.
Here's the deal. I was using ZoneAlarm Pro Antivirus + Firewall, and until less than a week ago I was getting help regularly on different things to test to try to get Innkeeper to even boot up the UI (I was either only getting an icon in the System tray or just a Loading screen).
Here are the different things I tried:
Adding an exception to everything Innkeeper related in the Application Controls.
Turning off the Active Scanning for the Antivirus in all related folders.
Giving all Innkeeper processes "Super" permissions settings and everything cleared in the Firewall.
Hitting the Off switch for the Antivirus, Firewall, and Application Control
Going into the system tray and hitting Exit for the entire ZoneAlarm program and checking the Task Manager to make sure nothing was active.
None of the above worked. This isn't even purely Innkeeper-centric, as I've been noticing the same problems happening when I use Sourcetree and Unity. What turned it around was when I had to go do a clean wipe and reinstall of ZoneAlarm to get rid of an annoying error happening on startup (error popping up from ZoneAlarm, even after it was "Uninstalled" interestingly). After the uninstall I tried Innkeeper, and voila, it worked! My problems in my other programs went away as well! The end result is that I did a little research and got a 70% off coupon on BitDefender Total Security, so now my system is safe AND everything works as it should again.
Of course if the latest patch fixed all that maybe the above warning isn't necessary, but I'm sure it could still help someone out there.
