I guess the people who were not doing well in arena decided to move on. And I bet arena won't get easier until we get an influx of new people into hearthstone like we did with the release of the android version of hearthstone.

That would make sense. I also just discovered Heartharena.com; if such assistance has had a spike in popularity, it would easily explain why the average deck in arena is so much stronger than before.

Same here, though I would be making the same decisions 90% of the time as Heartharena, so that would make me 10% better?
Nice tool to record your stats.
And yes, I also found out arena is a bit more difficult these days, like, I was doing 5-6 wins always and there I was, last week finished 0:3, 1:3 ...

6-2 today had to retire cause the server was messing me up - and I wanted the dust to create dr.boom. No clue what you fellows are talking about in a - even more randomized cards rng game.

Yeah, I just used it for an arena run and after seeing the types of picks the software suggests, I have zero doubt that this site and others like it are the reason for the sudden increase in strength of the average arena deck. Yeah, the software isn't perfect, but for your average arena player who couldn't pick a deck to save their life, this allows them to greatly level the playing field.
It happened to me but because I stopped playing arena for some time and now I'm not as used to BRM cards being in there.
The time when I felt I was good enough and managed to get 12 wins once was in vainilla hearthstone, now there's even more randomness with a bigger pool of cards
Arena has gotten more difficult because people have better drafts with sites like Hearth Arena and the meta is more aggressive because of popular Twitch streamers like Ratsmah.
So I agree that the average arena player has gotten better, but I feel that the group of top tier arena players who average 6-7 wins have gotten worse. The arena has been easier for me because I feel a lot of top arena players have moved on to constructed. It feels like I don’t meet good players who make few mistakes until 9 wins. And I’m starting to recognize the same players at the top and I have to take notes.
It seems to me there are less bad players, less top tier players and most people are stuck in the middle skill level.

I used to be pretty good in arena during Vanilla and Naxx when I could still completely focus on the game. Over time it's getting harder to put 100% focus on hearthstone because it's not as exciting anymore and it's not intense enough to get my full attention. So I started watching movies and TV shows during my runs and started thinking and caring less and less about my plays resulting in worse and worse runs.
I used to average 6-9 during beta/vanilla and even shortly during naxx, after that my attention span started going down and my average started getting worse. I think my last 20 runs I've averaged 2-3 wins. It's also getting harder the more cards are released and I simply don't play enough anymore to average that many wins.

it's not like the good players got worse. it's more like that the average player is now much better. the main burden of a new hearthstone arena player was, that he didn't know which cards to pick and therefore basically had already have a pretty big disadvantage. plus, the improvement was way slower. as a conclusion, the overall level of skill has therefore risen
I’m not saying individual players have gotten worse. But the group of players that are near infinite or infinite has gotten worse because the best arena players have moved on to constructed which has made constructed more difficult at ranks 5 to legend. I'm saying I have less competition at the top, which makes getting 12 wins easier than ever. I'm saying there is a lot more mid level skilled players in arena now, than low tier and top tier players.
ive got your answer OP. When i first played arena i couldnt draft a deck to save my life. And then when i learned the deck archtypes i discovered that the arena draft works around your mana curve of previous picks. So its not 100% random not if you know what you are looking for. I went for average 2-3 wins when a started out now i get at least 6 wins every run and sometimes ill go into infinite arena for a couple runs. Just practice practice practice its not as hard as you feel unless you expect to go 12 and out every run which is just silly high expectations.
by the way first time hearing about heartharena. I think you crushed part of my soul. netdecking is bad enough i thought i was safe from cheaters in arena. clearly not. im so mad at how lazy people are. grrrr. :(

Nothing new, before GvG people used arenavalue but it was lot less popular i guess.

This has got to be the dumbest argument. Why shouldn't people use every tool at their disposal to improve their performance if it doesn't break any rules? I guess when you do/did math tests you also refused to use a calculator because it would be cheating...

its a matter of pride thats all. some people like to accomplish things for themselves and others would just much rather have everything given to them. if your lazy and just want to cheat thats fine its not like HS can regulate it. but every time you win just remember you didnt really win. you didnt really design or draft that deck you took someones elses work and did the easy part cuz you werent good enough on your own.
Also im an electrical engineer today because my math teachers in school banned calculators cuz they were in fact cheating our education and what i surprise i learned how to do my own work and now i reap the rewards at 25 an hour.

I'm finishing my Master's degree in Civil Engineering and I find it hard to believe you didn't need to use a programmable calculator in some courses but whatever. As an engineer you should know that a tool is only as good as the one using it, or do you also refuse to use professional software for modelling and calculations because they're considered cheating? Lol...

i didnt use a calculator until pre calc except when we didnt have a choice like dealing with irrational numbers or tangents. and no obviously the use of cad programs is essential since we are doing a job above human calculation...
so given your stance on the issue of using assistance to win games would you also say that you approve of botting in HS. After all its a tool to get you lots of gold or to even reach legend. you turned on the bot and its on your account you could do it yourself but its just helping you out. right? right? what could possibly be wrong with using programs to assist you. oh wait its cheating!!!!!!!!!!!!!
holy ignorance batman.... also civil engineers are just over qualified construction workers. like hmmm we need to dig a ditch lets get the civil engineer over here to see what he thinks needs to happen to make this ditch work. if any job could be done without a calculator yours would be it. county clerks run more calculations than you. get out of here and go run some arena with all your assists on, smart guy.

Ad Hominem. And I doubt you're an engineer since you seem to lack both the respect and the understanding of it's several branches.
ugh i would hate to pull up the user agreement but im pretty sure using assistance to win is cheating. like when streamers snipe other streamers using their followers to win. def illegal even tho its not written word for word in the user agreement. Its black and white... using tools to tilt the game in your favor is cheating! You are definitely a loathly civil engineer since you cant even grasp the basic concept of fairness. Have fun digging ditches i cant fix what cant be fixed.

You would be wrong. There's nothing on the TOS against using something like Arenavalue or Heartharena, and frankly it's kind of funny you seem to think there is.
Btw, throwing around attempts at personal insults like that only makes you look like a fool. Downplaying someone else's education makes you come out as ignorant and a bigot.

Was averaging 5-7+ wins consistently for the past couple months, now I'm doing exceptional if I can break 2 wins.
Any idea why arena has suddenly become so much more difficult?
