My recommendation is to get better at arena. It's the best way to earn gold IMO and if you can earn gold relatively easily then you can get packs relatively easily. Watching streams drastically improved my arena results. I've probably got more gold than I'm ever going to spend on arena runs now. I usually don't have enough time to play an arena run per day along with doing some daily quests. So, I'm most likely set for a long time. Once you get good at arena the game really opens up. If you enjoy playing arena that is.
Pure BS. A new player will never make it alive in Arena. For the first 2 months he will just be food for the hardcore dudes. And it is a vicious circle/ You can't earn Gold by doing dailies as a newbee because you lack the cards against the copy/pasted decks from the internet.
And you lack the skill as a new player to choose the best card combos in Arena, which is even costlier to play.
Losing 1-3 in Arena every day will set you back a fortune in money as Gold is so difficult to get in constructed as you lack the cards as a newbee.
This game will be much hyped, but it is going to burn very fast with the casual crowd. Only the 300K hardcore players buying all cards will be satisfied, but not the rest.
They like to pretend the arena makes the game f2p, but in reality it's no different than buying a pack for 99% of the players.
I watch Kripp's stream on occasion, and I heard something interesting. He said he has been losing gold lately! Now that is telling! Here is someone in that 1% admitting he is actually losing gold! And frankly it's only going to get worse as knowledge disseminates amongst the population. No easy wins, far less high win streaks.
And now I'm really disappointed in both sides of the argument. If you'll notice, OP was asking for advice as much as he was making critisizing the current state of the game. zeek81 wasn't making any point as to whether or not the game is fair, he was simply giving advice on the best way to get cards. Then you too jump on him, acting like he said it was justification for the game being unfair to newer players. How about you argue with someone who is actually making that point?
This game is extremely unforgiving to new players. I made it to rank 5 last season and right now I am facing similar competition at rank 17. If you don't have the legendaries/epics require to be competitive with your class you are doing well to even make it to rank 20 (and that's before you can even lose stars!)

And his recommendation likely wont work... Also, I am sure he already knew about arena!

What do you mean, "won't work." You need to be terrible for it not to work. Either way, what you said had almost no relevance to whether or not it would work. Also, you should think about the statistics a little more. If Kripp is losing gold, that means more people are winning, eh? That means more gold for the 99%. You don't need to be good at arena for it to be worth it anyway. Getting 3 wins consistently is average, and that is all it takes to be worth it. He never said Arena was a guaranteed way to get all the cards you need, he said it's the best way to get gold. I doubt anyone really thinks that grinding 10 gold per 3 wins in constructed is a better way to get gold.
Idk, I think it's more important to be honest, than to bamboozle people with false hope.
The generalization is right here. You are acting like this is what was being argued, when it's not. There was no "bamboozling with false hope," he was simply offering advice. All you did you spout a pointless phrase that had nothing to do with the argument at hand, but made you seem right. That would be like me saying "idk, I'd rather Blizzard not nerf every single cared into a 1-1 wisp." It's really easy to win imaginary arguments against points noone made, but how about you respond to what I actually said, now?
My GF picked up HS after me. She made it to rank 11 in S1 only doing daily quests and buying no packs for real money. Now, she has picked up arena and is consistently getting 5-3, which generally makes it more effective gold spending as compared to buying packs. With my assistance she gets up to ~9 wins. We have been playing since maybe a week after blizzcon. I have a little bit of experience of non-competitive Pokemon TCG, she has no TCG exp at all.
So don't go telling that you can't play because you don't have the cards and thus can't learn. Read up some articles - here and on other Hearthstone sites. Watch streams. Try to understand the game starting from the very basics. Understand which cards are great and which are meh. You don't need to actually play the game to improve - you need to analyze. Do that - and your arena scores will improve, you will get packs faster, you will get more cards to learn the game further in constructed, and snowball on.
You say arena is your main appeal - well, it's a whole different story from constructed. I've got a friend who's doing a few ranks better than me in constructed, yet he never went better than 3-3 in arena. I'm consistently getting 8-9 wins, and a few days ago I got my first 12-2. Yay to me. Just.. learn. Don't waste your time being frustrated.
And it's pretty surprising to me you do 30 games/day for gold and yet having such a hard time. I'm under 300 games total, as far as I remember.

Just to clarify my suggestion to focus on arena, I'm basing it on my personal experience. I watch Trump arena runs at a rate of about 1 every other day. It has drastically improved my performance in arena. I currently don't spend any money on Hearthstone. I just try to keep up with my daily tasks and play arena. I try to abandon any 40g quest in favor of 60g or 100g quests. I usually can't even invest and hour per day in playing Hearthstone, but I have over 2000 gold sitting in my account. That formula works for me. I don't know if it will work for everyone, but it's the best advice I've got.

Oh, you wanna do over-generalizations? Can I play too? *Ahem*
I think it's more important to let people give sincere advice than to turn everything into a "light spender vs heavy spender" class war.
Ah, that was fun, but I think I've had enough. How about you respond to what I actually said, now?

Where is the over generalization? All i see is me posting facts, and you whining that they offend you.
