So.. just had what would have been one of the funniest hearthstone moments had it not been for the fact that i was pretty much guaranteed to win eventually anyway.
any self-respecting hearthstone player who has looted a flame leviathan or looked at the card will read it and say .. "wtf is this crap". everyone knows its bad. im new to the forums but im sure its been mentioned on here. my friends joke about leviathan.. anyways here goes:
playing ranked against a freeze mage whom i popped the first iceblock against the previous turn leaving him at 1 hp.
its now the mages turn. he plays two secrets (one of which is most certainly is the 2nd iceblock im sure we can agree) followed by arcane intellect. im sure u can see where this is going. FLAME LEVIATHAN! as u know iceblock cant trigger on your own turn so he exploded.
which brings me to my side point. blizzard did a very nice job with GvG on the whole but they really got lazy on the class legendaries. flame leviathan is unplayable in any deck. period. voljin is very good i have neptulon and tried to make a murloc shaman deck work but i couldnt win any games head to head against friends with the proven meta decks. maybe hes decent in just a balanced shaman deck as a way to draw 4 random usually low cost/value minions but not exciting Bolivar is unreliable and uninspiring I would like to give trade prince a try but rogue is weak. spent forever trying to get a good rogue deck going only to lose to the staple decks, and any priest deck. don't think trade prince is enough to make it viable warlock got another good legendary and it was the last class that needed it hunter legendary is Decent.. but its unrealistic to get much of its bonus effect value. malorne is ho hum warrior terrible.
i can understand neutral legendaries being gimmicky or bad or unusable in a high tier meta, and there are plenty of those in this xpac as well, but for so many of the class specific legendaries to be so clearly bad has me wondering their thought process. are they trying to make it less 'pay to win'? (hah. unlikely) blizzard clearly has a decent sense of what makes a card good or bad. im just a little disappointed that the CLASS specific legendaries were so underwhelming. i don't see the meta ever producing a viable warrior/shaman/mage and prob hunter and rogue deck with their new class legendary. should we complain and hope blizzard buffs them? is this a problem?
I'm with you on flame leviathan and vol'jin, not so much on the rest.
Neptulon is insane value in late game but you DON'T play him in a murloc deck (because murloc decks are bad), you play him in a standard shaman deck and get a bunch of low cost cards for free.
Bolivar is far from uninspiring, he is indeed quite unique, he's insane if you draw out all the silence and the BGH before playing him but he could easily have 3 attack if silenced, 1 is a bit stupid.
Can't comment on the trade prince, some people seem to like it but I have yet to face enough rogues in general to comment on him.
Hunter Legendary has potential as soon as face and DR hunter are not the only hunter decks out there.
Malore is boring in my opinion.
Warrior is not terrible, it just doesn't fit at all in CW.
you guys seriously made well thought out posts that i agree with. maybe hearthpwn is a good forum? haha im new.
however i did make the caveat that neptulon could be ok in a balanced shaman deck so maybe i will try that. it certainly isnt in a murlock deck. i tried and tried with my friend head to head for like 12 hrs and i couldnt win a single game. even still, bgh is so hot right now and u literally lose the game if u get overloaded for 3 on turn 7 and they bgh ur 7-7 as you are probably left with 5-6 cards 4 of which are shitty murlocs. still not sold on bolivar either. do you mulligan FOR him? lets say u do. u now have a 5 drop and 3 x drops in your hand. lets say 2 of them die and 2 tokens die before turn 5 (pretty reasonable/generous) u now get to play a 5/7 for 5 mana that can be silenced. or you draw it late and are forced to wait for many things to die before u can get any legit value out of it. NO THANKS. its not good. and as i said and gilliam mentioned, its hard to enrage ghazrila and get much out of the bonus effect of the card. sure u can run wild pyromancers and shit like that to ping it but in the end ur deck will be less effective than 1 of the 10 face hunter decks out there unfortunately, which is essentially my point. most of these class legendaries dont change the meta. im becoming disinterested in hearthstone after GvG brought me back initially, because the 3-4 best decks from naxx are still the 3-4 best decks now. even voljin doesnt do much in that regard. class legendaries could have been a really good way for blizzard to get more variety in the competitive meta.
to OP flame leviathan is okay in freeze mage.. not the greatest card but sometimes works fine.. your criticism about all the other class legendaries is bit too much for my taste tho.. iron juggernaut, neptulon, voljin, malganis, bolvar, gazhrilla, malorne, prince are all pretty fine class legendaries.. yes they are not perfect, they have weaknesses, but that doesnt mean they are unplayable or bad..

totally fair but compare this batch with original class legendaries al-akir, played a lot with MASSIVE game winning combo potential van cleef, present in almost all rogue decks jaraxas, one of the single most powerful cards in the game, part of handlock one of the most powerful decks in game tirion, one of the most powerful cards in the game, the few paladins surely had tirion in their deck gromash, very strong, staple of control warrior velen, strong and fun card, not terribly viable in high tier meta king crush, not so great but still an 8-8 charge cenarius, decent card in lots of ramp druid antonidas, one of the coolest cards in the game, even tho it never really works out that great in actual gameplay
this batch of class legendaries, as mentioned by other people, are extremely or overly niche that could have a place in a very specific deck. warrior card is trash other than a brewmaster/mech/mill deck (has to be better than control warrior) malorne is respectable in a mill druid ghazrila is maybe decent in a midrange hunter (has to be better than the face hunters) leviathan is bad and im sticking with my analysis that the paladin card is trash. in any given game it can be good, but i think its too unreliable to count on it seriously
the new set just completely underwhelmed in my opinion. could have been a great place for blizzard to give some really strong cards to classes that needed top tier help. of course its still semi early in gvg but i think a lot of these cards are just dust..
Iron Juggernaut Is by far my favorite Legendary for GvG even more so than Dr. Boom. For those saying It's a terrible card I think you're just looking at things the wrong way.
You're getting a 6/5 minion for 6 Mana. That alone isn't great, but It's not terrible either. However you're also getting a random Pyroblast at some point during the game, and with how easily control warrior takes games to the late-late game or to fatigue the odds are good that they're going to end up drawing the mine before the game is over.
Iron Jugg also makes control Warrior less reliant on needing to get Alexstrasza in play in order to get their opponent's life total down to the level where you can think about killing them. If you get your Grommash Hellscream and your enrage activator but you haven't gotten their life low enough to combo for the win or drawn Alex you can sit back and just keep stalling until they inevitably draw the mine.
There's also a lot of value in the card that it gets in your opponents head that at any time they may take a Pyroblast to the face, which can cause them to not try and board clear with weapons as much, or cause them to keep their life total higher than where they would normally feel comfortable.
The face value of the card might not be amazing, but It's value intangible value in that it forces your opponent to play around it is huge. Much like you holding on to your silence keeps a Paladin from playing Tirion Fordring All card games are as much mental and mind gaming your opponent as they are just physically dropping cards on a board.
Iron Juggernaut has sealed my coffin in at least a couple games. My Mage wins most marathons but when that card has come out it's pretty much over for me.

Nonsense, everyone knows that Flame Leviathan syngerize with disenchant button.

Before every game I pray to little baby RNGesus
Can they at least make the 2 damage dealt by Leviathan not to the players but minions only?
No! Make it to enemy characters. Its still bad afterwards but better than shit maybe -.-
