I guess too many sensitive kids play this game. If you feel that 6 emotes are causing you so much frustration, then I'm sorry to say, but you'll be having a really hard time in the real world kiddo.
And to answer your question, yes BM is the new trend. You can either deal with it or you can call the care police.
Sensitive kids.... wow, I see somebody couldn't keep their post constructive not being a snarky condescending wotsit, however thanks for answering the question.
BTW who is this "care police"? Never knew such a entity existed.

Playing casually these days (work), always happy to talk strategy and deck building.
It's an interesting topic for sure. I remember watching a stream of the championship games, when Firebat did some kind of snarky emote before he even won, the commentators were in an in-between state of "burn" and "that's not right." They didn't know how to properly react in a way that would appease the crowd.
The E-sports industry sprung up in the US and started making money without protocols of whats "right" and "not right." Is there a standard conduct amongst players where E-sports has a history, like Korea?
I remember that, the presenters weren't sure what to do. There was an written online etiquette in the EU as PCs were adopted for gaming in the mainland Europe (they did not adopt the console).
There's got to be some kind of cultural difference here, or age & education difference or something like that.
Wouldn't you get warned & banned if you carried such behavior into the way you post on forums? Why should it be different when actually playing the game?
As to the "sensitive kids" issue... I would be willing to bet money that it's the kids (sensitive or not) who go the obnoxious route.

I'm super-duper sensitive, so 1 emote is enough to cause me frustration.

People BM all the time in HS, it's nothing new. Even when you dont mean to BM & are trying to be nice, you get cursed at. I played a game as palladin against a hunter. I beat him with 1hp left thanks to a little luck. He was so close to beating me but RNG fucked him over. I said i was sorry & when he conceded, he sent me a friend request only to say "Nice BM, Dipshit" It was a close game & it was a fun one too but that right there ruined it. Why are people so mad when they lose? It happens to all of us.
Do you not have any humor? Are you a house plant? Relax it is a game and just squelch if you have an issue with it. I personally like to do it back and forth haha! It makes the game more fun.
I don't typically BM and don't find it too annoying when people play out their hand when they don't need too. However when someone is spamming emotes or when they say sorry after every advantage they get I will start roping every turn. I usually watch tv while I play so if they are going to be dicks I waste their time.
All kidding aside, remember that sometimes your opponent is a child who knows not what they do.
Out of place emotes don't matter to me. I'm far more frustrated when I play against the exact same 2 or 3 decks a hundred games in a row, Sometimes it's nothing but death zoo, mech zoo, and mech mage, often with Rag on turn 8 for some strange reason. To keep things interesting I've started trying to signal across the board, like highlighting my opponent's hero power button, then his face, then his copied Floating Watcher so as to indicate that he has lethal and should just finish me off already.
It's a game, and it's f2p. Make it fun and interesting for yourself and other players. I don't mind losing a few games as long as there are some highlights.
Maybe he took your "sorry" emote as being scarcastic. I don't mind the BM all that much, the only on that bugs me is when ppl say "thanks" at the end of a game.
i struggle to find how emote BM-ing can be so frustrating. We live lives do we not? You probably meet someone you dislike more in real life every day. No work place(or even school place!) is void of some disagreeable fellow(if it is, count your blessings!). Sure, you come home to play games, to get away from all that, but a few emotes really shouldn't put you on tilt. I mean if it does, perhaps you need to rethink your approach to games? Take it more lightly and you might enjoy the game more.
That said, I can understand frustration at rope BM-ing. That's just wasting everyone's time.
BMing is really insignificant and I really don't care that it happens, if you're complaining about it in HS I can't imagine how you fare in other games. While, I don't mind BM, roping turn after turn for no real reason is unacceptable. I have been an advocate for a time bank since I started playing because there are certainly turns that require time even longer than the rope. But, the default time allotted for each turn in general is ludicrous.
This topic comes up every week and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time.
Why are there so many people who consider "BMing" something worth so much *super serious* debate? How can so many people take 6 prerecorded sound clips *so* seriously? It's just some anonymous kid on the other end of the Internet, playing a game which has absolutely no consequence in your life whatsoever. Woo, he hit a button a few too many times. Take the win/loss and move on with your life, who cares?

It's not a question of butting heads with someone or some misunderstanding; it's people behaving in a way that would get them punched in the face in real life. Going through certain repetitive motions in HearthStone, having them fail, and having someone try to rub your nose in them can turn an annoyance into something more distracting. It's not different from someone being a jackass at a poker or roulette table ("Ha! Nice bet there, moron!") I auto-squelch to avoid that entirely. At the same time I never get frustrated with RNG, since the game isn't malicious.

Ah, so the frustration stems from knowing that someone is acting inappropriately because they know they can't be punished for it. I suppose that's fair. But then again, they are data from the internet flowing to your screen. Why should you get so worked up about someone online? They literally can not cause you any more discomfort than by making you hear 6 pre-recorded messages, or by wasting your time.
The problem isn't the one person BMing / spamming you, it's the repetition. Not everybody can handle it with serenity.
Even if it's only datas, you know that it isn't random ones. There's someone behind the screen on the other side, and that's a fact you have to deal with. Sure it would be nice if the guy on the other side realise that you're a human being like him, but you know, peoples loves to hate others, especially when they don't know them.

I always found the threats funny. Kinda thought that was their point. I'll squelch someone if they spam "hello" or something like that.

when i get emote bm'd i will most likely squelch the next person i face and bm emote them as transference.
i prefer handlock over zoo.
