The issue I experienced in a recent game (after the mercenary announcement and patch) on PC is that I couldn't interact with any cards.
I was able to play them and attack with minions at the start of the game and noticed that the cards weren't really responding to my mouse movements (my mouse is fine). Eventually I couldn't play cards or cause minions to attack. The game wasn't crashed because I could still see the opponent hovering and I could emote (looked like the opponent was responding to the emotes as well) while the card I had last tried to play was frozen on screen. I just conceded and rebooted the game and it's fine now, but it would be nice to know what the cause is if possible to avoid unexpected losses.
I'd also be interested if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I couldn't find much info elsewhere, but maybe it's a bug with the latest patch? So far I haven't been able to reproduce the issue.
After doing my research I found out that the pink 'stuff' that appeared onto hearthstone cards must, in fact, have been coronavirus. It has through hearthstone spread across the globe and infected all computers. And because too few people played hearthstone with plastic gloves on they got infected through their computer. Thus coronavirus is Hearthstone's fault and I expect a total of 3 packs from each expansion to be given to all coronavirus victims.
This is the only truth.
jk ofc.

That's true, I experience the same situation.
After the update the game was really laggy, so I restart the game.
The next time, I have the same issue as you explain, I couldn't interact with cards, so I restart the game again. Now, it seems that all is fixed.
battlegrounds is completely broken for me :/
