Since a few months ago, I've been climbing to rank 5 with absolute ease (we're talking rank 5 in the first few days of each season). But then, using the same decks I use to climb, I get stuck at ranks 5 and 4, most of the time 5. What's going on? Last season I couldn't break rank 5 for 2 whole weeks, and this weekend I've played about 50 games at rank 5 with various decks and just can't break through to rank 4. I'm only using decks I'm VERY comfortable with (that I've played 60+ matches with), including Aggro Pally, Dude Pally, and Big Priest. I'm trying to follow the meta as I go, but it's just crazy around rank 5. I faced 3 Secret Mages in a row, teched in Eater of Secrets, then didn't see a single Mage for 5 or 6 games. Then saw Cubelock multiple times, teched in silences, and he disappeared as well and I started seeing murloc Pally, you get the idea. Regardless, I consider myself to be a good enough Hearthstone player, and I figured if you just grind enough games with a Tier 1 or 2 deck, you'll eventually keep ranking up. I also experience a weird trend of getting 4-5 wins in a row followed by 4-5 losses in a row. It's so consistent that it's like clockwork. Any advice on laddering from 5-legend?
I wouldn't swap in tech cards after just 3 games imo. The aggro pally variants(Aggro, Dude, Murloc) all do well vs secret mage as it is and still has like 40%WR vs cubelock. You might try running 1 of all 3 tech cards, eater/harrison(ooze)/spellbreaker, to just go wide vs the current meta instead of trying to change to the micro meta you are facing after a couple games.
You also might try changing up the times you play. Really late on the weekends usually nets you players that seem like they have had a couple drinks. I see a lot of rank 5+ players making foolish mistakes around those times and I'll take any advantage I can get.
