The past 2 seasons I was able to get to rank 5 with secret hunter without much difficulty. This season has been the complete opposite, with constant losing streaks making it impossible to rank up past 10. I have tried a couple different midrange hunter decks that people have posted online claiming to have success but all variants of hunter just get stomped by dragon priest, which is my most common matchup and also one of the few decks that midrange hunter really can't compete with in my opinion. So my question is... have any of you found success with any kind of hunter deck this season? Is priest really this common on ladder right now or do I need to keep playing until I get lucky and roll some good matchups? Is there any hope for hunter until the next expansion comes out?
I don't know... I love hunter and I hope blizzard shows it some love soon. I will go back to playing token shaman just to reach rank 5 if I have to but playing that deck feels kinda cheap/boring so I'd rather not. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
I was going to say, how far up the ladder? Once you get to 10, nope. I think they say midrange is 2nd tier, and you might sneak some wins in, but between 10 and legend, it doesn't do well. Funny enough tho, once you hit legend you see Hunter or even warlock. It's crazy. Lol
In July, I've played about 30 total Constructed games with that same deck...which was enough to hit rank 5, including a 12 game win streak.
So yeah, playing Hunter on Ladder is VERY feasible. You won't make top 200 in your region, but rank 5 is no problem, and even Legend is very possible. I win probably 60-70% against Dragon Priest, too.
As noted in that Reddit topic, Evolve/Token Shaman is by far the worst match-up for Midrange Hunter. I won maybe 20-25% of games there; I need a lot of luck with draws and usually a misplay or two from my opponent.

I... I love him.
I hit Legend for the first time in June (was around #1800) playing Midrange Hunter. I even made a Reddit topic with an accompanying screenshot;

My Midrange Buff Paladin Deck (29-12, good for climbing to Rank 5)
Sure why not !
