I think that the game is beeing redownloaded with every patch from scratch.. The file on my hard drive containing the game is always pretty much the same in size. They probably just prefer to make you download the whole game (since its not that big in terms of gb) and not patch it ,thus avoiding patching bugs etc Just like they do on smartphones/tablets.
every time there's a patch I need to call up a friend and organize that I go to his place (this can take a couple of days) before I can start playing again. the wi-fi at my place isn't strong enough, and neither are the ones at Starbucks or other public places.

I play on iPad and patching HS really sucks
This. They should at least make an offline download or sth. I mean you download a file 2gb and install it later. I cant play the game since yesterday and i dont know when i will
I also have noticed that when i try to download the application to my phone after a new patch (i dont play on phone just pondering quests etc.) the download speed from the google play server is very very low for the first 2-3 days.
On mobile its actually BIGGER than on PC because the file also contains all the different language packs. It's really dumb because most people are unlikely to ever use more than one and it also just eats tons of space since it has the text and audio for every card in the game in multiple languages.
That and every time you update it redownloads the entire game instead of just the changes.
Its better this way since redownloading it saves a lot of space. For example CSGO, on steam only downloads patches (files size in mbs) but in the long run the your game will be far bigger than if you download it fresh. In PC it might not be that much of a deal but in mobile, its going to cause some probs.
this system we have here can be problematic on mobile platforms though, my current phone has LOADS of space my old phone used to have BIG problems with hearthstone . and redownloading while the whole game is still stored means you need 2x the space until its completed. which is a big problems(again) on phones without a lot of space. and deleting and redownloading can sometimes be SOOOO annoying
It's actually depressing for me to have to download the whole game entirely from 0 just because a new patch has came since I don't have unlimited internet access. I downloaded the game literally 3 games ago only to have to download it again from 0.
downloading the game consumed my data hoping that the next patches can't be more than 1 gb.
I'm just sad that I can't play the game again thanks to the stoneaged patching system.

this latest patch is 2GB on pC(and i imagine it will be alot on mobile too) for a little bit of text and coding changes..
?????????????????????????????????????
and last welcome bundle + tyrande patch was 1.3GB too for a small bit of visuals..
is blizzard just really bad at compressing or do they completely redownload the whole game?

Schrödinger's cat walks into a bar... and doesn't.
and still the entire game was unplayable due to the patching bug caused by the last update for a few hours -_-

The patch is always the same as game size. So they just redownloading whole game every patch.
That's the downside of the engine (Unity) Hearthstone was made in.

Are the people that usually datamine the patch files asleep or there is really nothing new in this patch?
They shouldn't have used ComicSansMS 14 Bold for coding.
