I’m starting a series of threads (with attached polls) in the attempt to hopefully determine as a forum what cards are considered to be the best in each class.
The criteria for choosing the “best” card is up to you. Which card is most broken? Which card fits in most decks? Something else? Hopefully people will leave a comment explaining their selection. I will come back and update the thread with a link to each poll here:
Each class will have a thread with 3 different polls grouping cards into 3 categories: Basic/Classic, Standard (Old Gods, Karazhan, Gadgetzan, Un’Goro), and Wild Only (Hall of Fame, Naxxramas, Goblins vs. Gnomes, Blackrock Mountain, Grant Tournament, League of Explorers). I will let the voting go for 3 days, and then the card from each category with the most votes will move on to the second round.
The second round will be in two parts. The “Best in Class” will be determined by a new poll with the best Basic/Classic card, the best Standard card, and the best Wild Only card for each class. The “Best in Category” will take all 9 winners for Basic/Classic, Standard, and Wild Only and see which card is considered the best in each of those categories. Example: If Ancient of War wins the poll for best Druid Basic/Classic card, it would then move on to be in two more polls – Best Overall Druid card, and Best Basic/Classic card.
If there is interest in this process I will do more similar polls, like for neutral cards (but by mana cost instead of class).
Notes
Rather than listing 30+ cards in each category, I took the liberty of limiting the field to 7 cards in the Basic/Classic category and 5 each in the other two categories. The only exception is Mage – I couldn’t pare the Basic/Classic list down to 7 for the life of me. Sometimes it was a stretch to even come up with 5 – see the Druid Wild category.
I apologize if your favorite card didn’t make my list of nominees, but I had to limit it somehow. I tried to pick the cards that are played the most and/or are key components of a specific archetype. If it becomes clear via the comments that I left out the best card from the list of choices, then I will do that thread over again.
so I went with choices that may seem weird but I have reasons, innervate makes sense it sees play in every druid deck, not just the ramp ones and leads to the craziest plays in both ramp and midrange/token druid lists. in standard I will say mark of the lotus, purely because it is severely underestimated even now when it sees play in almost all druids. this card was capable if winning you games turn 4 more consistently than any other deck could. I think that they were only willing to print so many good token druid cards this expansion because it's main activator living roots was leaving. wild egg druid is probably insanely good just for that but still standard egg druid is scary. and in wild I went with savage combatant not exactly because he sees any play, not sure there, but he is the most broken card to neverroken. see wide-scale competitive play. he is broken as hell when he does well and is just good enough when he dies before you can use the effect that if a deck ever finds a use for him he will be considered broken.

Thanks!
Great poll, I can't see how Fandral Staghelm loses in ANY category he's up for in anything related to Druid!
