I main Pally and I think one of the main reasons we are rated as we are is due to our terrible card draw mechanics compared to other classes, particularly as most of our decks are very reliant on drawing certain cards Eg. Equality and without them it can be an auto loss.
What are considered the best neutral card drawers in the game? I am currently running a gadgetzan auctioneer and he can do serious work but Paladin spells (the good ones) are few and expensive so it can be hit and miss.
Is Nat Pagle what he used to be since the nerf?
Is it better to just stock your deck full of cards that replace themselves eg. thalnos, engineer, inventor etc.?
Card draw is dependent on the deck. It is perfectly possible to build a pally deck that keeps 8+ cards in hand without any neutral card draw minions. I know this because I made one, and it's quite successful. Also, pally isn't the only class which lacks card draw. Mage only has arcane intellect which isn't very impressive and priest's only card draw is from northshire cleric.
When you're up against aggro Nat Pagle is pretty useless. You need all the tempo you can get against aggro, and he just takes it away for the gift of 4 hp.
On the topic of self replacing cards, Azure Drake is definitely the best of these. Novice Engineer and Loot Hoarder should be used exclusively for thinning your deck because you can't expect them to do any work.
Gadgetan is probably not that great unless you run some gimmicky build with secrets.
Nat Pagle is pretty terrible, even control decks can deal with him pretty easily and you'll be lucky if you draw a single card. Zoo players would probably do a victory dance if they see Nat Pagle being played against them.
If you really want to thin your deck your best bet is probably running loot hoarders and azure drakes.

I'm so glad there is prejudice against playing hunter/zoo/[insert FotM deck here]. People like that make the life so much easier for those of us who play to win.

Yeah I figured as much from how little you see that little bugger these days lol, seems like Blizzard really broke him with the nerf..
I actually just tried switching gadgetzan for divine favour, it suddenly occurred to my stupid brain that actually it can work very well in giant control (my main deck) because for the first 3 turns you're just letting your opponent hit your face.. To the point that I actually started milling lol.
i guess the bigger problem for me is lack of deck filtering.
