What do you guys think of putting Acidic Swamp Oozes in your deck? Sometimes I think it isn't really worth it... but then in the right situation it can be a life saver. Sort of situational I guess. Would you guys go for Oozes over Owls? Oozes only work vs half the classes after all...
Absolutely. At the very least he is a 3/2, not too bad, at the best he removes a dangerous weapon. I always have at least 1 in every deck for the most part. As for ooze over owls, I say why not both? 1 of each is safe and better than nothing at all.
Yeah I feel the same as you guys. I was reading some of the Artosis/LS deck analysis articles and they don't seem to use either owls OR ooze in their control decks which surprised me. Maybe leaving them out makes a deck tighter?
I never bring oozes, they are so incredibly situational, Although it does feel good to ooze a double upgraded gorehowl, that situation almost never happens.
Ooze is a good card if you know your opponent is playing a weapon centric deck, the problem is you cant know that.
As for owls, they are good for the silence if you dont have one in arena, but in constructed there are better silences over all.

Ooze is never a bad card to have in your deck, is acts as a good 2 drop when needed and carries the only other weapon-breaking effect in the game iirc (one reduces durability and is quite bad, the other is Harrison). Bundle into a 2 drop with good stats? Can't go wrong.
Owl, on the other hand is a bit different, it acts as a 2 mana silence, essentially. The card itself is poor as a creature and tends to die to minor things without much advantage. The value of the card rests in the fact that it is a cheap silence, where alternatives are a 4 drop 4/3, 4 drop 2/4, or removal spells. Basically, owl lets you do more on your turn because of a cheap cost and possibly high value, it just has little intrinsic value as a 2 drop 2/1. Is owl splashable? Certainly. Are there better alternatives to it? Sometimes.
Ooze is a bit different because the card effect is unique and each deck may naturally not have a problem with weapons. If you play a swarm deck or maybe a direct damage rogue, any weapon aside from Doomhammer (maybe Sword of Justice) isn't going to give you trouble, but the option is there if you need space in your deck.
For Owl replacements, you have execute, hex, poly, cobras, saps, assassinates. How much you want an owl is relative to the removal already your deck, in relation to your curve compared to Spellbreaker as an alternate. For ooze, you either have him/harrison to break weapons or you don't.
tl;dr - owl universally useful for the effect, but has many alternatives and holds little value as a minion. Ooze is situationally useful for the effect, has a single viable alternative, and pretty good intrinsic value as a minion, but your deck may not need it.
Even at the worst case, it is a 3/2 for 2, which is better than most 2 drops. Best case, you destroy a Fiery War Axe, Gorehowl, Arcanite Reaper, Truesilver, Sword of Justice, or Assassins Blade. I run 2 in my Constructed Decks. Because whenever I run 1 and end up needing a 2 drop early on, I always think to myself, "Did I have 2 Oozes in this Deck? I sure hope I did..."
Owl is a bit pointless IMO. It's certainly not an early game minion and thus it's only value is as a cheap silence. I'd take Spellbreaker over it any day. Sure you have 2 less mana to spend when you use it, but all that means is the second minion you play is slightly worse (maybe a yeti instead of an ogre). So the question is would you rather have two decent minions on the field (4/3 and 4/5) or one good and one worthless minion (2/1 and 6/7)? Verse a mage or priest or other control deck it's a no-brainer.
As for the ooze, I think players tend to over rate the value of 3/2 minions. They're significantly better than 1 health to be sure, but getting a 2 for 1 with them is difficult. That's why I'd say Mad Bomber and Knife Juggler are superior to the ooze. The weapon kill is amazing, but, as stated above, situational.
I'm new to Hearthstone, not in the beta yet. But how many of the heroes actually use weapons and are there any besides the rogue that always tend to have a weapon in their deck. Just from watching matches on youtube it seems rogues, pallies, and warriors usually have weapons. If that's it then oozes dont seem worth it.
I stick one in my deck just to be safe. 3/2's are pretty pointless to me because they still die in one hit the majority of the time. Very few cards have 1 damage so chances are it dies quickly but it is still nice to have it as a safeguard or to drop for Combo.
3/2 for 2 is fine, against weapons awesome. bloodfen raptor is also 3/2 for 2 but without any effect at all. ooze is worth it to put it in the deck but not a "must have"
This is how I look at it. It's a Bloodfin Raptor with an added bonus. Works for me.
1 ooze in a deck is a life saver. Would never pass on one in arena or in vast majority of decks. Would take a very specific deck build/hero to not use it.
See I don't personally tend to take them in my decks. They do have their uses but I find that normally playing my shammy deck that I can find way of working around my opponent having a weapon. I have a rather taunt heavy deck so they have to actually break through the taunt wall before they can do any real damage to whatever I put behind it.

Its worth it cuz worst case hesd an aggressive 2 drop thats not useless if they dont play weapons.

Keeping control doesn't necessarily mean reducing a threat. Usually you just destroy it entirely or "guide" it to different targets or bigger threats.

You're not going crazy, I edit 2~3 times each post
Only one thing that's for sure imo. Panda + Ooze/Owl = fun times
Amazing card, you should not judge if you should use it regarding the opponent's decks but instead your own.
If it fits your deck, trust me, you will have opportunities to make it shine.

It has a secure spot in my control decks, good against paladin, warrior and I love the what the heck moment when I get to use it against Jaraxxus :)

However, I'm new to TCG's. So, grain of salt.
Well, in the current metagame there's Ooze's in every deck and their mom's decks, so I guess that answers the question.

In all my decks I have atleast one Ooze. I've considered 2 but I feel one is mandatory.
Drop an Ooze on a freshly cast Gorehowl and watch that warrior tear up instantly.
