So, I used to only play wild, but recently have been trying to play Standard and built a few decks in the Standard format. Unfortunately, I was having no luck whatsoever. I really liked the decks I put together for the Standard format, so I figured I would just give it a shot and try them in Wild. What a difference it was.... I stuck with my standard built decks for a few days and flew through the ranks. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this as well and/or tried this? Regardless, what do you guys think is the magic behind this? I was thinking maybe I am just stuck in the Wild format "mind set" and wasn't playing to the Standard format properly (Expecting certain cards and playing around them), but I really don't know if that would have such an effect. I could just be having a luck streak, but it's been pretty consistent. What do you guys think about this?
Currently using these decks mainly: N'Zoth Rogue, N'Zoth Paladin, ZooLock, and Pirate Warrior in that order of popularity.
Also, off topic, but it has become the bane of my existence.... What is the secret to those damn pesky Control Priest decks? I have such a hard time beating them with any of my decks.
1. Is the control priest deck you refer to in standard or wild?
2. What rank are you playing at? I've noticed that at rank 14+, there are a lot more control decks. It could just be a matter of playing the right deck.
3. What do you mean by the "wild mindset"? Do you mean like playing around Lightbomb although there is no way your opponent can have it?

Is because the most competitive play moved to format when the expansion came out. Now Wild is full of noobs, experimental decks and some casual scum still playing secret Pally.

Wild "mind set" using N'Zoth decks and some other stuff? I just don't get it. It is given that the decks you mentioned are the souped up versions of standard deck because of more available cards in Wild format. No magic involved.

1) I meant more of a generalization. It just seems no matter what I play they always have an answer for it. Always a good counter to whatever I play. Everything from Auchenai Soulpriest with Circle of Healing to take out my side of the board to just general Shadow Word: Pain and Death. I don't know how else to explain it. I guess it was a bad question to just throw in at the end because it does require a lot more explanation which you made me realize quickly. I was mainly looking for some tips or strategies on what people are using to take Priests out. Certain play style and/or decks that are good to use against them? I have zero experience playing as a Priest myself, which I think if I played with him it would help me to understand the mindset and good ways to counter them. Any general tips you could give me for when facing a Priest?
2) Right now I am at rank 8. When I was trying to play standard I was stuck at around 12-13 and couldn't make it any further. I can't remember what all I was facing last season down in the 2-5 range, but I'm sure I will find out soon enough lol. You are right about playing the correct deck, though, so thank you for that tip. :-)
3) To be honest, I'm not sure what I meant by the Wild "mind set". I guess mainly just expecting certain cards you only see in Wild and playing around them like you said. I'm going to edit that out because I think it is misleading and going to cause too much confusion. Sorry for that.

Gotcha, well that makes sense. I guess I need to go back to Standard format and keep at it. I certainly won't be gaining much experience or knowledge facing experimental decks and noobs. Even around the 1-5 rank range; do you think there will be noobs and experimental decks down there as well? Thanks for the heads up either way!

I think I may be confused with what you are saying and I apologize if I am, but the decks I am using in Wild aren't changed at all from when I used them in Standard. They are 100% Standard format decks. I can use them in Standard any time it's just I am doing much better in Wild format. Hope I am on the same page as you lol.

Oh, my bad. Sorry. Good luck laddering on Wild with your Standard decks then.
As someone who has spent all this month every day playing wild ladder the only deck that is good in both mode's is Zoo. Priests are actually good in wild and there are things like Dr Boom and Secret paladins and shredders and mech mages the list goes on that crap all over standard decks.

You happen to play exactly the decks priest is good against. In general, priest wrecks Control and is pretty decent against Aggro if built correctly, while it almost invariably gets absolutely destroyed by Combo decks and struggles a lot against most Midrange decks.
As such, Anyfin Pally and Freeze Mage are basically auto-win against priest, while N'Zoth Hunter is not auto-win, but very good as long as you're not too greedy with your list.
In general, when playing against priest, you need to play the tempo game instead of the value game. Priest WILL outvalue if you don't. Try to play as much as possible around entomb with your slower decks - for example, with rogue, you play N'Zoth+Shadowstep so that he can't entomb N'Zoth, and if you want to be extra greedy, N'Zoth+Gang Up after priest wiped the board. Similarly, Midrange Shaman can just skip using any entomb-worthy minions entirely, while Hex allows you to get rid of strong deathrattles without killing them (so that they don't get respawned by N'Zoth) and Bloodlust + Thunder Bluff Valiant ensure that the priest can't afford to let anything survive. Meanwhile, the totems are completely immune to Lightbomb.
But the way priest is built, you really need to realize that a) in the control MU, priest is almost always favored unless you have some lethal combo and b) sometimes even when you're favored, priest will draw just into the perfect answers to win anyway.

Yeah, I hear ya - Just gotta stay as far away from them as possible lol. I am with you on the Zoo deck - That had always been the one deck I could always count on to win a game for me fast and efficiently - Standard or Wild.

I never got around to replying to this post, but I did see it and take note of the tips you gave me. Had a couple games against Priest's and I did manage to bring back a couple wins trying to focus on the tempo a lot more. So, that was a big help and much appreciated. Still have some work to do to fully understand the way around their sneaky little tactics.
Funny that you mentioned the N'Zoth Hunter because I have been trying a new deck that runs this and it does work great against priest. Currently 4-0 against priest using that deck. Again, still have some work to do, but I have some new tactics that have been helping out a lot, so I just need to stick with it.
I loved to play as a Priest in Wild VS Hunters..... until Nzoth Hunters arrived on the scene.
Been having trouble with them lately? It seems to be the only consistent deck I can use to beat them. Been doing a little better against priest, but N'Zoth Hunter has the most success.
