What if , if you didn't draft C'thun, they worshipped the biggest (most attack+health) minion in your deck as C'thun's representative instead and gave it buffs instead? Like, in Blackfathom Depths in WoW they worshipped Aka'mai as a representative of the Old Gods, who was like a hydra or something. Then it wouldn't be as good as worshipping C'thun directly but there might still be some reason to draft them. Like, worshipping Deathwing, or a Captured Jormungar, or whatever your biggest creature was. Cult of the Stormwind Champion, here we go!
(Like, playing Beckoner of Evil would give +2/+2 to the biggest minion overall in your deck.)
Imo, they shouldn't have taken out the C'thun cards. All of them are fine stand-alone cards. Some of them have even seen play in constructed without putting a C'Thun in your deck.
