I was reading the Prerequisites for the EU swiss and i read this
1.) Be a registered user of the Hearthstone Beta on the NA server.
It says NA server, is this a mistake or what?
I suspect this is a typo. In the rules for the friday night swiss it reads:
1.) Be a registered user of the Hearthstone Beta on the EU server.
Yes when I was crafting the rules for this tournament it was stil in cbt.....and I was pulling alot of late nights and was using the FNS as my template...Mistakes were made and will be fixed I thank you all for keeping me on my toes.
Is it possible to participate in this tourney if I'm deaf and unable to listen in on TS?
Well that is going to be a slight problem...The issue I am constantly reminding people to ensure class icon and ts3 name matches that on challonge with battle tag in () next to it so people can find you for said match...Also you will not know when the match starts...As I am the only one running both the NA and EU it is a tad difficult however I can get some people to repost in the chat what is being said but it will be delayed....

I am willing to help as well. Just look for me on TS ("WhaleCancer#1743") and I can help keep you informed. I usually have my teamspeak open on a second monitor, so I should be able to help even if I am in a game (though I won't have my TS sound on during my games, I can respond to messages you send).
I hope they look into the big complaint last night. Changing from top 16 to top 8. Kind of hurts those who were good sports and stayed in it. We were a little too dependent on those who decided to leave. They participated and contributed to the amount of rounds being played. The top 8 or 16 decision should be made prior to the tournament and should stay consistent. I did do some research on this and I have not seen one other swiss tournament do this.
I am curious how many people decided to drop? I knew at a certain point I couldnt make top 8 and a few of my friends in the tournament had said they wanted to drop because they felt discouraged. They stayed in only to be good sports.
The top 17 players had a 5-2 record, but no tiebreaker would have been required if it stayed Top 16. I feel like the complaints would have been limited ;).
My intentions are not to complain in this post, and I have said it time and time again I love how you guys run these tournaments and I know it is a huge pain. I just see an opportunity here to make them better and encourage players to want to stay in the tournament, which would benefit everyone. Great job to the winners as this was probably one of the hardest swiss tournaments yet.
For NA the Swiss part of it took about 2.5 hours. It started ~15 mins late because there was a ton of people, many of which were new. After the first two rounds the new people got the hang of it and it sped up considerably. I'd expect next week's tourney to be a bit faster because there will be less first timers (hopefully there will be a tourney next week) .
Very fun tourney, and also weird. It was decks like you see in the low ranks of constructed with really, really skilled people playing them. A lot of the common things you typically look out for and play around just didn't exist. It was almost like playing a completely different game. I ran into 5 aggro decks and 1 control deck in my 7 rounds of play (had 1 bye). Some very unique strategies and combo's.
Sorry for the delay and everything We had a massive turn out and while we were able to speed this tourney up a bunch it still took way to long...So next Wednesday we will have something new and extremely faster....This way we can get rounds down to 20 min each thus getting to top 16 will be faster....
yeah dropping will happen which is why as long as we have 59 or more to start we are doing a top 16...no more of this drop crap messing with how we roll...And Im speeding up the reporting process and making it less complicated in hopes of getting 15-25 min rounds rather then 30- 45 min rounds

Chiv, you are the man. I did like the idea of saying... I won on table AB or whatever. I dont recall you mentioning that in the opening dialogue before this tournament!

The first post shows the day as "Friday, Feb 5th" instead of Wednesday. You may want to correct this!
Solarion - I will help you with your matches so long as i am on that night. Add me faantastic#1193.

That is awesome whale.....As for the day issue it has been corrected to say Wednesday limited...Again, lack of sleep and a crazy week are to blame.

Will there be Decklists? Would be very interesting to see.

Also thank you to all who came and the many messages of support I revieced..You all are great and the reason I work as hard as I do...
Shame a lot of people dropped so early, but it's normal for players to drop during Swiss. I managed to get top 8 so I'm looking forward to next week!

Way to be man.
We will be testing in the future a means where self reporting will be happening and thus speed things up even more.
