ManaGrind is proud to announce that we are collaborating with Major League Gaming (MLG) http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/ to grow and expand the competitive Hearthstone community. We have been working very hard the past few months trying to establish a competitive scene and are taking the next steps to bring this dream to fruition.
After receiving feedback from the previous tournaments we have changed a few things including:
NA now starts at 2pm EST (previously did at 4pm EST)
Added to [General] rules: "All players must enter their Battle Tag in the "Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft player name" Section when creating their team."
People seemed confused with the old rule being "Players may use any hero class for Game 1. The winner of a Game must select the same hero class for the following Game, but may change cards in the deck. The loser of a Game may choose any hero class and deck."
The new rule is "Both players are allowed to switch between Heroes whenever a new round starts. For the remainder of the round, each player must keep the same Hero but can sideboard and/or modify their deck after each game of the Bo3"
The top four placing players will be contacted by a ManaGrind Representative to acquire your deck lists. The 1st place finisher will be asked to have an exclusive interview with one of the ManaGrind managers.
Come and compete with some of the best players Hearthstone has to offer! Anyone with beta access is encouraged to sign up and join in on the fun. Do not be discouraged by the big names that will most likely be joining, this is your chance to grow as a player and expand your skill set. It is an important milestone in all Hearthstone players careers. There are prizes to be won in the form of MLG credits which can be used to join buy in seats for paid prize pool tournaments in the future.
I actually saw the old rules as a move more toward the blizzard tourney format....And I see this form as moving away from it...but its just my opinion...
-Shade people away from using a rock paper scissors approach for the whole tournament as people seemed very annoyed by this
-Be less reliant on big collections
-The rule is simplified for people to understand hence bringing less confusion to the players
-Provide a stronger class identity between players
As we do aim to have a Blizzard format for the future our registry will simply not allow it for now and trying to figure out the perfect format that pleases everyone can be quiet difficult when considering that we have no way of policing a specific format properly, hence we tend to stay as open in terms of ruling as we can for now to make it fair.

Though we would like to satisfy everyone, if we refer to all the posts on the different forums and the general feedback we have acquired the main issue with the format from last week was the rock paper scissor scenario creating an unpleasant experience for the players. As the registry to control a specific format is not available yet we had to come up with the closest thing to limiting a format which would be possible to administrate.

I know but its really the only counter the aggro-centric meta.
Looks good, got the registration with tag in properly this time so should confused a lot less people and make for a faster tourney. And removing somewhat the rock-paper-scissor problem.
Judging by the teams joined so far, we need to create a new team. Not correctly setup or working as intended, if so why?
Its a bit clunky at the moment as mlg is designed for teams not for single players, so as its tuned for HS this problem will probably resolve itself
I was just puzzled as to why we couldn't just sign up with the team we made last week. I assume that's not how it works for other games etc, Having to reform a team every tournament?
MLG is profiting over the attention they get on their platform, and they are not even putting decent prices.
They are waiting on having a good registry for people to enter specific decks to put in decent prizes and are simply hosting these tournaments to slowly create a competitive scene for Hearthstone. The prizes they are offering will let you enter prize pool tournaments in the future, look at it as you are building credits for future buy-in tournaments with very attractive cash prizes.
People be thankful we even have this opportunity. If it wasn't for Managrind and mlg's constant support we wouldn't have these fun tournaments. I'll once again be there on sat. See you in TS!
hmmm trying to decide if i should be conservative this week and see if the meta is evolving.. or should I bust out some secret tech! decisions decisions!
My bet is that hunters, rogues, paladins and mages will be the most used decks... So I'm thinking if follow the flow or be anti meta...
Where are you getting rogues from? Them with warriors and druids was the least used classes used last time. The one warrior in it just used a molten giant gimmick deck, all rogues did't get very far. So if you wanna be a special snowflake go one of those 3 classes :p
The guy who beat me was good! But BAM thats it over in less than 5 mins lol
Much prefered the previous Swiss rounds where you could chat to people and make friends.. If Managrind is trying to build a community surely that would involve more interaction than this? Also MLG signup layout reporting etc.. really SUCKS :)
Go back to Swiss rounds please :)
Also i appreciate how much work you guys have put into getting this community up and running MASSIVE thanks for that
Thank you guys for your constructive feedback on these tournaments, in particular the format. You can be assured that this feedback is being listened to and discussed by ManaGrind.
it was my prevision before NA and EU was played last weekend :) but Fala was not really believing it :D
Yes, and they'll probably stay on top for the next ones too... They're very strong, with a very solid early to mid game. But why aren't control decks making the cut for top4? All of them were aggro... Was there any control on top 8 or something?

Rogues are the least used? Yea right... Apparently you didn't check the top3 of last EU tournament.
