So I had a Mad Scientist in play. Opponent plays Stampeding Kodo, destroying my Mad Scientist. The deathrattle pulls up the Mirror Entity, which is triggered immediately, copying the Kodo. But how does that work, if the secret wasn't even in play when the Kodo was played from opponent's hand?

Blizzard deemed this a bug. It shouldn't be copying the minion for killing the scientist
Battlecries trigger before the minion is "played", therefore mirror entity has been in play when your minion entered the battlefield.
SI:7, fire elemental would also be copied by mad scientist/ mirror entity
I used to say the same thing, but then someone reminded me of an interaction that contradicts this:
Sylvanas is at 1 health. You drop a Elven Archer and kill the Sylvanas. Nothing else is on the board.
If battlecries trigger before "landed" and deathrattles trigger before Land then Sylvanas would trigger to an otherwise empty board as the archer hasn't touched ground yet. Yet it grabs the minion anyway.
You COULD argue that deathrattles involve minions that are "in play but havn't landed", but again, blizzard killed that theory by saying that the Scientist/mirror entry shouldn't be happening. Thus the battlecry happens at the same time as the Landing, thus the minion is on the ground by the time deathrattle triggers.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
