There is a discard pile/graveyard in the game but right now you can't access it. Its definitely a huge possibility and to be honest, Death Knight seems like a class that would really be able to utilize something like the graveyard.
I'd hope they'd make the graveyard itself - unique - in some way. Like there is only 1 shared graveyard and only minions go to the graveyard because they can die but spells are used up and disappear :)

Nozdormu wins you every game where you opponent has to go to the bathroom on turn 9.
Most Cardgames don't allow to look up opponent's graveyard. You may sometimes even not ask how many cards are in there. Those games still have effects which use the graveyard, but usually you cannot look up what's inside a graveyard. There are even games which don't allow you looking into your own graveyard.
Main reason this is done: Emphasize the "skill" in the game.
Same reason why there is no scrollable battlejournal. And I'm happy with it, because it will result in players taking more time, looking through the journal, instead of playing and keeping record of what was played. BTW Trump keeps handnotes of what was played etc. now and then.

Don't start kidding. Most Decipher Inc. Cardgames didn't allow looking into your opponent's graveyard. In the Game of Thrones LCG it actually is a bit more complex with dead pile and discard pile having unique "features", but both can be looked into. Aliens Predator even altered the way you may look into the discard pile several times. Where it was allowed, then not allowed for both players and later (with adding the Terminator ccg) was allowed for your own pile only.
I know that the most popular cardgames (YGO, Pokemon and Magic) are different on that occasion, so don't get me wrong here. Especially Wizards don't like having "secret" graveyards.
It emphasizes skill, because you need to count. Just that simple. On larger tournaments things not required to play the game, sometimes were restricted from being used. This went so far, that Decipher for example didn't allow any kind of sleeves during their tournaments, which soon got eratted to "no shiny sleeves". Keeping record of cards was only available in your head.
I would have no problem with graveyards play but good god people complaining about unleash the hound combos are going to have their head's explode when they realize the kind of graveyard combos that get played in card games when it's allowed. I mean I loved terrorizing people with blood artist+wight of precinct six (mtg players will know what I'm talking about).

For example, in many card games, like "hearts" for example, you're not even allowed to check the earlier plays, you have to memorize everything, including your points.
There's a lot of discussion over at the Blizzard forums about a graveyard mechanic.
What are your thoughts?
I doubt Blizzard adds anything like this, as it would probably slow gameplay.
The expert at anything was once a beginner.
Don't think it's going to happen. Would be cool if they added it though.

Maybe in the distant future, as in, six months / one year from now,
