This was made before the release of most RR cards and of course the most recent nerfs. I am more confident than ever that Team 5 has nothing but balance in heart with all the decisions they are making. This latest announcements today are not overly popular. The blow to druid's ramping ability has many crying foul, but if you look at it from the standpoint that Druid has almost never not had a tier 1/2 deck and are perennial tournament favorites you can see why this change was made.
The Brode era was fun, and it involved perpetual power creep. Every expansion had flashy new cards that were mandatory crafts. The bottom line decision on this worked out well for Blizzard. You must buy new packs or you will fail. This was frustrating to ladder as the range of viable decks were only a few after every new card drop.
Moving forward they seem to be normalizing power across the classes. On the next standard rotation we'll see the final results of this test. In a perfect world and if this goes well we will have 9 viable classes with a large range of decks. New expansions won't kill off old archtypes, they'll introduce new ones and allow you to tinker with the old.
I loved Ben at the helm, but I think the new path of Team 5 is more sustainable and much better. Let's cross our fingers and see where we are in 4 months.
I really excited for rotation, all problematic cards will be rotated and it is gonna be amazing, Blizzard improved a lot in designing cards this year, all these 3 sets this year are fine and Blizzard is setting up for a much more healthy and fun meta next year.

I've gone into my thoughts on the plan of Team 5 for rolling back the power level of new expansion cards. I'll link my thread about that if you're interesed: https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/general-discussion/226071-optimistic-outlook-blizzards-master-plan-for
