hmmm i can update you on what i got as plants in the tank..
Curently tryin to get dwarf baby tears to blossom as a carpet for the tank. Other than that i do some wheaping moss and java moss that i stringed around a root to make it look like a tree.
Got 1 bulb of Red tiger lotus and a zenkeri lotus.
Think i got dragon stone for the hardskape, not so sure.
I have a turtle, a few pleco catfish, and a bunch of smaller fish that I don't know the names of. The small fish were originally bought as food for the turtle, but she's too lazy to hunt them, so the fish are still swimming around happily a year later.
I have a couple of filters, and a heater that I only use in winter, because it's pretty warm where I live. I don't have a light, but I keep the tank on my balcony where it gets natural light. I never planned to keep an aquarium, but a friend had a few turtles that they were planning to cook in soup. I managed to rescue one of them, and it all sort of grew from there!

nice dude. so you are gifted enugh to keep the tank out in the light, here i live its seasons so i need to keep it inside with controlled heating. do you know the L nr of your plecos ?
maybe your smaller fish is guppy ? or neon tetras ?
but its kinda sick to keep fishes as food :D but i understand that you wanna keep it as live bait for the turtle

Also no idea, sorry. I've got a couple of different ones. Mostly they're little pink/orange fish, always zipping around the tank, way too fast for the turtle to catch. The other ones are silver, and a bit bigger and slower, but they're good at hiding, so turtle still can't catch them. In fact, some of them figured out that the safest place in the tank is literally right under the turtle, so they hide under her. :P I'll add some pics of the fish too, maybe you can tell me what they are. In the last 2 pics you can see some of the silver fish hiding along with one of the plecos. The pleco hang around under things, but they're not worried about the turtle at all, they just ignore each other.

All my plants are plastic. Any live plants would get devoured by the turtle in the no time.
My tank is a bit of a shambles. Whenever I try to set it up a bit nicer, the turtle messes everything up. I can't get any fancy gear where I live anyway, it's all basically cobbled together from generic pet shop supplies. I can't put any gravel or anything in as a floor because the turtle will eat that too. I even had a glass thermometer in there for a little while, which was a mistake, because the turtle tried to eat it and spread glass shards and whatever the gunk inside thermometers is nowadays (hopefully not mercury) around the tank. Still, the turtle is better off with me than in a soup pot!
got a turtle in my aquarium too, and like Asuryan says plastic plants or she would eat them. Always setting it up nicely when cleaning the tank though it's just for a bit, cause obviously she doesn't like it and moves everything around.
Am embarrassed to say but I really can't remember the specie name anymore. Wrote it down a long time ago, and well you know.....paper gets lost. All I can remember it had "Chinese" in it.
She's a tough and boring eater. All she wants is shrimps, lately the bigger ones not the tiny. Tried different vegetable like andijvie (fresh and dried) but nope she doesn't eat it.
At the picture a photo from her the day I bought her. She was about 4 cm, nowadays the size of my handpalm, she won't get bigger then that, which I like :)
Daowen, your turtle looks like the same type as mine, called a Chinese Three-Keeled Pond Turtle. It has wiggly yellow lines around the sides of its face, and three ridges along the length of the shell.
Mine's a lot bigger than yours in that pic, and it was already fully grown when I got it.
Where I live (southern China) this type of turtle is farmed for use in traditional Chinese medicine.
A whole thread about aquariums and turtles yet not one reference or mention of Mal'Ganis the turtle. I'm almost a little disappointed in the community right now.

Haha, for a while now I'm been thinking of getting another turtle and naming it Mal'ganis. :D

I've been in the hobby all my life. I only have one setup atm. Planted 40 gal breeder community tank. 13 pristella tetras, 6 serpae tetras, 3 candy cane tetras ( Had 6, 3 didn't make it), 3 yoyo loaches 3 glass catfish and 3 oto catfish. I would normally use a sump or canister filter but it's small enough that hang filters are a lot easier. Layer of sand, organic topsoil and red clay underneath the black fluorite for plant growth. This was after I replanted the left side so it looks a little thinned out. I don't have any current pics on me.
Wow, nice hobby. I have a turtle at home, but unfortunately, I am not the best owner that looks after his pet all the time( I live alone and I have less and less time to take care of my turtle lately. I have a very busy day: I work, study and still go to the gym. To be honest, I try to keep up with everything, but I need to go to the gym 4 times a week. Not that it's my will, the doctor ordered it, because my testosterone level is low. I was prescribed some more pills, but I don't see any changes yet. Sorry, that write not on topic, but I read only this forum. So I read an article https://www.docarzt.com about leptifox. Do you think it is effective?
I'd like to take up this hobby! I guess tomorrow I'll buy an aquarium. What advice could y'all give to a beginner? I mean, I've had an aquarium when I was little, but that was a simple one with only one goldfish in it.. I wanna buy a big aquarium with various fish species and decorations. A friend of mine has an amazing aquarium and he said that has ordered live rocks for his fish tank from arcreef. I wanna buy them too cause they look pretty dope!
