Incomplete Guide. Make sure I don't forget to finish by asking questions
Firebat Won NESL #21 with this deck.
Firebat Is Currently #1 NA with this deck.
AtaK has been #1 NA for a long time now, briefly losing his place to Kolento for a period of time. But almost immediately taking it back. This is also the deck I have played this season to get to top 10 legend NA, but am now #12 in NA.

About the deck:
The deck is very similar to Miracle Rogue in the sense that it takes advantage of the rogues cheap removal to get value out of the Gadgetzan Auctioneer, but is very different in the sense that the deck not only has board presence, which miracle rogues do not. But also does not solely rely on getting the Gadetzan Auctioneer and can actually without it win that match. Also the deck is reactive and you must interact with your opponent where as in Miracle Rogue you have much much less interaction with your opponent so the rhythm of your game is revolved more around your draws rather than what the opponent does. In this deck that is not the case, you must interact with your opponent and play around things more often.
What's with Malygos (Does it work?)
Malygos is a strong finisher with combos like Malygos + Sinister Strike (8 dmg) + Bladeflurry (6 dmg to all enemy characters). However the strongest part of this finisher is that your opponent has to play around leeroy as soon as they start getting low, so all through the game they will be putting up taunts and playing inefficiently because they are scared of getting leeroy comboed. So, the slow down of them doing that can allow for the game to be long enough for Malygos combos to happen.
General Play Style
The general play style is to control the board and react to your opponents. So for example Coin + SI:7 and just hitting face is unnecessary, in most cases. You want to hold your dagger, and your cards to setup plays where you can control and as you control you will be able to get in little poke damage and draw cards. Almost like a tempo deck.
Mulligan Choices
Just hit Legend with this deck in 8h, I love it! Thanks so much for the helpful guide and mulligan guide helped a ton. For anyone wanting to play this for me it was so much more enjoyable than miracle rogue. Good luck!
is it possible to replace maligos and vancleef but still keep the theme of not using leeroy to get around the taunts and have some kind of mindgames
Malygos is a key component to the deck. You can win without it, but it is a strong finisher when you are able to draw it in hand. Gadgetzan Auctioneer is that draw engine to get Malygos. The +5 spell damage is not replaceable.
If you don't have Malygos, there is little point trying to build or replicate this deck; you'd be better off with Miracle Rogue.
Can someone please fill me in on how to beat zoo with this deck (or any miracle variant, I guess)? Fan of knives and Blade Flurry for 1dmg don't cut it, so unless I get lucky and draw into my deadly poisons AND bladeflurries in the first several turns, it's game over every time. I lost every game I played vs zoo so far, except a single game where I pulled a win straight out of my ass on the final turn when I was at 2 hp (pure luck).
My last game vs zoo ended with me doing zero damage to my opponent until the final turn (turn 6), where I was able to Auctioneer and Sinister Strike. By this time he already had a Young Priestess, Defender of Argus, Dire Wolf Alpha, Argent Squire w/ shield (shields are a nightmare with this deck), and a Doomguard on board. I think I had a Sinister Strike, Auctioneer, and a Shiv in hand....
I just cannot figure out how a deck that has this much trouble vs the most popular deck in the meta (by far) can be effective enough to ladder with. Maybe things are different when you're that far up in the rankings, but against rank 7-10 I don't see how this is the best choice.
I do extremely well against zoo with this.
If you can stay ahead of their creatures, you're fine. I always mulligan for pure removal like Backstab, Eviscerate, SI:7, Blade Flurry, etc. All of them are amazing since they can hit things through their Voidwalker and it's 1 for 1 or better with everything. Drop everything you can to stay ahead of them until you can drop some drakes and Auctioneers. They'll get themselves low enough from lifetapping, then you can drop Malygos and Sinister Strike and kill them easily. No need to do poke damage to them at all.
That's exactly how I play. It just never seems like I have enough removal. It seems like you need to live until turn 10, or at the very least turn 9, with this deck. I just never make it far enough against zoo.
Don't be greedy and dump whatever is necessary while using as little as possible. If you can live till later you have a lot better chance of winning.
I find the deck pretty strong against zoo. Trick is not to be afraid to take some early damage to keep control of the board. between your agents, eviscerates, backstabs, dagger, fan, shivs, blade furries, deadly poisons....etc! You should be able to make it to the mid game where you draw cards and set up spell damage with your drakes and watch em tap their life away as you find answer after answer for their minions, play a big scary Edwin, heal with your farseers and before you know it Maly shows up and you win.
Holy mother of god, this deck is bad vs zoo....
EDIT: Holy mother of god, this deck is good vs hunter.
Also, Mages are unbeatable with this deck. Guess that's why the spreadsheet is blank in the mage column, lol.
What do you do when mages constantly open with double amani berserker within the first 2-3 turns? Seems like there's no way around taking 10-15 damage from at least one of them.
Edit: It's not only the berserkers, it seems. I get reamed by every mage I come across. While waiting for my auctioneer/malygos turns, they sit there plopping down Senjins, Wyrms, Apprentices and I need to blow through every spell I have (that I'd like to save for later) just to remove them. If I don't, they whittle me down into pyro/fireballx2 range and I'm a goner.
I have a gold Malygos, so I'll try it out. =)
Need something to speed up grinding past rank 7. I can never settle on a deck, though, and it hurts me big time. :/
If literally 75%+ of my games are vs Hunter/Zoo, is this deck still the best choice, in your opinion?
gold malygos is my all time fav gold card. consider me jelly ;_;
In my opinion if you really want to counter the meta, go with FireBat's version of the Kitkatz control warrior. The deck synergizes extremely well if you have the legendaries and counters both Zoo and Hunter, if you have the legends/dust I'd so go with that.
what can you sub out for cleef?
Any chance of a completed mulligan chart? I think I've got the hang of most match-ups with this deck, but it would be very nice to get the definitive word from players better than me.
Ya I keep stoping at top 5 and then falling out of top 5 so I keep having to grind back up >.< Now I am #3 Legend So if that sticks mulligan chart with be done:D!
Thank you for sharing this deck! I really enjoy playing Miracle Rogue but it gives me a heart attack every game. When I saw that this deck gave board presence and included Malygos, I instantly fell in love. I think this deck will motivate me to hit 500 wins on my rogue :)
seen this some time ago when AtaK was on Puffins stream explaining it to him and giving some tips
really interesting deck, i like it
any deck that makes malygos work on a legendary rank level is amazing.
what would be a good replacement for vancleef?
