Legend Deck two months in a row.
Also see post with game stats in comments below - others have gone to legend using this deck.
Everyone knows the win condition - buff the hand and cleave to victory. However, staying alive to that point, dealing with aggro and applying enough pressure to control decks can be difficult if your cleave deck is too greedy.
After months of changes I've finally settled on a core idea that balances late game win conditions with early game pressure, and capitalises on the infuse mechanic.
Mulligan: you NEED one of messenger buzzard and selective breeder in the opening hand. I don't care if you have a good 1-drop in the opening hand, send it back.
Take buzzard in aggro match ups to buff your hand and draw cleave/heal minions that can retake the board. Take breeder in slower match up to get more buffs.
These two cards carry the deck. The great thing about this deck having so many 1 & 2 drops is that you can safely do a full mulligan and still draw a 1-drop anyway. And to be honest, that consistency is probably what carries the deck.
Tip: Don't be afraid to use 1x cleave or rush combo pieces to stay alive.
I've tried greedy variants. Tried the deathrattle package etc. It all felt too clunky and slow. This deck absolutely slaps.
Strategy is to get messenger buzzard or selective breeder. Buff you 1-drops with Dredger Staff (makes awakening tremors VERY sticky) and put pressure pressure pressure without overextending.
You'll often find yourself with a full hand, this deck has incredible sustain, draw and generate.
Any questions, happy to answer. Thanks.

Ok I don't know what happened, but since I hit diamond 5, almost every single opponent is a rogue that kills me by turn 3. Not gotten anywhere yet!
It might have been assigned to Wild but I am having a blast with this deck. I've never played hunter, always sort of shyed away from the "go face" aggro feel of the class. I'm not a very good hearthstone player so my take on it might be wrong but thats how it always felt to me.
That said, this deck feels almost perfect. There are very definitely situations I can't handle, some of it down to my inexperience but some of it just down to being beaten by a better deck/player, but it's very satisfying when I do make the right decision.
It's especially satisfying cleaving down mobs and killing the opponent with "Always a bigger". That never gets old!
Thanks for the deck.
Cheers for taking the time out to comment. Happy to hear you're enjoying the deck. Interesting to see that it still gets wins in wild!
the best move it seems get as many buzzards on the board as you can, double death rattle on them for Gargon, magnetic parasite onto gorgon, and always bigger. The opponent has no chance to defend. One guy had 28 life left, then I did 29 damage with gargon, and magnetic parasite 😂. There's a lot you can do with your deck, one of the best hunter deck's I've seen in a long time bro! I'm excited to see how far it will take me.
Yep this is by far the best I've done with hunter, starting from the very bottom of the ladder I've just hit diamond 5:
Can this be the one that finally takes me all the way?
nice work man! I've never hit diamond yet, but I know there are people that are way better than me.
zomb beast, added with buzzard, and double deathrattle, and it's over. Great Job man!
Thank you! Sad that the rotation saw the deck get sent to wild. Hopefully you got to play it before.
I concur with you guys, this deck is the bomb, I haven't lost a game yet, and it's lots of fun!
Thanks mate! Appreciate the comment. Did you play standard before rotation or in wild?
No, I just started last night, and it was in wild. I didn't try it in standard. I bet it would blast through standard. I was like 12 and 1 last night. The only reason I lost the one game was because I added 40 cards, then I realized it was actually slowing down cards like buzzard, and limited the chances of a higher knockout move. I've always been a hunter player move than anything, I can see your deck getting major play for sometime to come.
Do you have other class decks? I'm interested to see what you come up with.
I have just built a midrange hunter deck and it is awesome. Doesn't have the same cleave win condition but is very strong in the current meta, even against DH. I think I can get to legend with it this month.
I can confirm this (at least by my own run) - I'm 60 games into my climb with another Hunter deck... my Shockspitter deck... and I have faced exactly TWO Hunter decks the entire time... one of them some kind of mid-range build, and the other so oddly techy, I have no idea what the hell it was trying to do. Neither of them anything close to this.
Trucked the mid-range and held off the other odd build to win them both... but it's a ghost town of Hunter decks out here right now.
Nice deck, thank you very nuch! What do you keep on Selective Breeder? Sometimes I confuse about that...
Buzzard is primary target.
After that it's tricky and based on how the game is going. You want Gargon in hand to get buffed, but you only need 1x to win. Hound is usually more helpful (because heal) in most match ups. But you need to decide what's more important - get Gargon win condition in hand and buffed or get Hound and recover the board.
Lost 4 games in a row. Never drew Always a Bigger Jormungar (with 10 or fewer cards left in the deck). ChatGPT says the probability for that would be arround 0.01 %.
I beleive you, it's happened to me before. Frustrating when your win condition is at the bottom of the deck and you have 2x of them.
That's why I'm running buzzard, gold panner, miracle salesman, yodeler, nathanos and aggramar - to get extra draw.
I've had games here and there when I don't draw what I need, but it's rare. The beasts are tutored by buzzard/breeder so you're really just fishing for the cleave.
Also, you might have to adjust your play to survival/control mode if you need to draw more. Or perhaps you just had a bad run, it can happen to the best of us.
I think you should persist with the deck because I made legend two months in a row with it. I even had my fair share of losses which is normal.
Check the comment below and the link to his stats - he went 21 wins - 1 loss to legend with this exact deck.
I had some success with the deathrattle package prior (D1). It's almost a guaranteed win against Warrior, although it lacks against Sludge, Paladin and DK (and to be honest, that's all there is on ladder right now). Added Abusive Sergeant for the final cleave burst.
Not sure about Hollow Hound. It feels slow and often just delays my inevitable defeat ;-) It also removes cleave targets for the combo (if I ever draw Jormungar...)
Your deck ist great and it gave me some inspiration for adjustments with the deathrattle package. I just like the stickyness of Bovine Skeleton in combination with Bestial Madness and Castle Kennels.
Must be different styles! I tried the deathrattle deck that was posted on here but I just couldn't get the hang of it.
Don't know if I agree about Hollow Hound. Hearthstone character descriptions state that Hunter's weakness is coming back and healing. Hound does both of these + more if buffed. Plus it's a ghetto cleave (not as high dmg as Gargon) but can still be a win condition.
Hound has won me so many match ups vs aggro paladin and token druid.
