The surprising thing about this deck is that even though more than half of the cards cost 1, you end up using all of your mana every turn.

How to play it

  • The key to winning with this deck is to pretend that you have Chef Nomi in it, and draw aggressively at every opportunity. (I actually tried it with Nomi for a while, but found that it never quite got to the point where Nomi would be useful. It's common to win or lose with 5 cards left in deck. The 76% winrate is despite having a useless Nomi stuck in my hand in several of the games.)
  • In most cases, it's best to distribute your buffs across different targets, so that if your opponent kills the big minion that's hitting them in the face, they don't also kill the small minion that's drawing you cards with Blessing of Wisdom.
  • Keep Cult Master in your hand until you can use it to draw.
  • Note that Crystology often will draw Magic Carpet. It can be a bit counter-intuitive that playing a 1-cost spell can be a better comeback tool than playing a 1-cost minion.
  • Don't be afraid to use Never Surrender with narrow boards. It's essential to keep board control at any cost.

What to Mulligan for

  • Mulligan for 1-cost minions, except Jar Dealer. (Brazen Zealot + Beaming Sidekick is an extremely powerful opening.)
  • If you have a 1-cost minion, keep Blessing of Wisdom. (It's fantastic when combined with a turn 1 Young Dragonhawk, but can often get two draws off other turn 1 minions too.)
  • Against rogue, mage, or warrior, keep Never Surrender and play it on turn 1.
  • It's sometimes okay to keep Magic Carpet against decks that look like they're going to be minion-based.
  • Keeping Blessing of Kings to go tall on one minion can help against Warrior, which struggles to remove single large targets.

Notes on Construction

  • I'm not sure whether Questing Adventurer or History Buff is better, so I put in one of each.
  • I only recently put in Sandwasp Queen in place of Raven Caller. It's clearly better, although Raven Caller's a reasonable substitute if you don't have 2 Sandwasp Queens yet.
  • Sea Giant might be good in this deck. I don't own any, so I haven't tested that theory.
  • Jar Dealer feels a bit weak, although it combos well with all of Magic Carpet, Salhet's Pride, and Crystology. I'm not sure if there might be a better option for that slot.
