If I want to play a gacha game I'll play one with actual character graphics that isn't clumsily built into the Hearthstone engine.
Mercenaries is no more gacha than Hearthstone. The monetization is IDENTICAL, except it looks like you can actually do more in Mercenaries as a free player.
It's spending your gold or real money to summon fragments of random units with different rarities to upgrade them while leveling them up in a turn based RPG mode. That's as gacha as it gets. It doesn't even play like Hearthstone. There are dozens of gacha games that are more interesting than what they've shown of Mercenaries.
In a true gacha, there is no way to obtain a specific unit you are looking for -- you must rely on the luck of the draw. That's not true in Mercenaries, where you can farm the coins of a specific unit by completing the bounties that drop that unit's coins -- in other words, it is NOT totally random.
In a true gacha, the odds of getting the highest-tier units are infinitesimal. In Mercenaries the odds are exactly the same as in Hearthstone (an average of one per twenty packs), with the same pity timers and everything.
In a true gacha, the free-to-play grind is so unrealistic that you have no hope of obtaining more than a couple of legendary units in your lifetime. In Mercenaries, there are only 17 legendaries, and you can expect to gain at least half of them in the course of normal play without ever spending a dime.
gonna skip this mode not seems worth my time
Seem to be one of the only ones that is hyped for this. Its not a PvP game mode. That alone will make it worth while for me. Ty for posting that.
I feel like it IS a pvp mode in the end. I mean, I think, eventually you will get bored of the same enemies over and over again.
You don't know what other people are going to get bored of. Luckily it has both, so everyone can enjoy what they like.
Well paid
No, I'm not preordering.
who cares
