    Quote from Ravza >>

People complaining about RNG have no idea. The most broken busted decks in this meta have absolutely no RNG. They are so busted because they are consistent. DH basically kills you by turn 5/6 guaranteed every game. Sure there is some RNG because of bad draws. Ultimately though the best decks, being tempo DH (which is absolutely the best deck right now, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, all the latest VS data confirms it's the best in legend - look out for the next meta report), hunter and enrage warrior have very little RNG. Hunter has a discover effect and sky raider gives a random pirate. there are lackeys though of course in enrage warrior. Other than that though very little RNG. Priest is a weak class and has lots of RNG.

Imagine you play every game and DH just gets its cards, same game plan, and kills you on turn 6 every single game. DH is so consistent it basically does just that. That's a boring game no one would play (which is kind of why I am surprised they didn't do anything about it).

Who cares about losing to DH, I never hated losing against ANY "busted deck" in any time of my HS long run since open Beta. NEVER. But losing a game ONLY due to a RNG fiesta card like Yogg, YES. THAT MAKES ME MAD AND MAKES ME STOP PLAYING THIS GAME.

Except dragon queen really isn't that great of a card. Half the time I can't play it because It would mean death, or I am playing it just in the hopes of getting lucky and getting a taunt. I'm not even sure it should be in any highlander deck. Out of 30-40 games with Highlander hunter I've used it exactly once where it had me win. I took it out because it's a horrible card. People just think it's good because when they lose to it stands out how unfair the loss feels then they get into a confirmation bias loop. And often when they lose to it it's because they're playing a slow unreasonable greedy deck.

ut the fact is that most people don't even take the time to figure out why certain builds of decks are more powerful, I say probably 70% of people have no idea how to adjust their deck for the meta, A base skill for being a player that no one even uses. also how certain plays are more consistent, or when to hold clear or use it or when to trade or when to tempo instead of using clear.  Then there's hand reading play reading and simply calculating the odds of waiting for an out vs. playing for a current out based on the other deck. Or the fact that you play differently vs. almost every different deck. For example with warrior some decks you trade a lot, some you mostly go face.

Sadly none of these skills can really be learned by people who believe in RNGesus because instead of of believing in themselves and the fact that they could do better, and looking for oppurtunities to gain those skills they pray to the RNG gods, and when the RNG gods aren't on their side they go and complain about those gods on this forum, When in fact the correct prayer would be to have more clarity, better memory and better skill, instead they pray or complain about luck.

It doesn't have to do with whether or not she is a "good" card (and you're wrong - she's an incredible card).

The issue, and the entire premise of my post, is the power level of the variance.

The OP even states that, saying "OK sometimes it doesnt work well, sometimes it turns games around".

    THIS

    IS

    BAD

    FOR

    THE

    GAME

Excuseme, do you have time to talk about our lord and savior Yogg Saron?

Yogg ( and its offspring, box and Reno hero power ) was actually the thing that killed this game for me.

I switched to Runeterra as well, I still play HS somewhat but the amount of heavy and gamechanging RNG in HS is too much. I do not mind "light" RNG, but games completely turned around by a Yogg puzzlebox or Reno HP is bollocks.

Spell Druid gets crushed by early pressure, it is great when paired against slow, controllish decks but aggro wrecks it.

    Quote from Macinstosh >>

What a ******** system. Matchmaking should only be based on rank. If you're in Gold, you only play against players in Gold and so on. That way, the good players will easily make it to higher divisions, and the bad players can work on their skills in the lower divisions. And for the Legend fellows, if they can't find a match, they can be paired with someone one division or two below them. Problem solved.

You are implying "gold" players are better than "silver" players. There are no "good" HS players; game is simple and not very deep ( not to mention the luck factor ) so there's not much skill involved.

Legend players just had more time at their disposal for grinding.

Heartstone is not a skill intensive game.

The main reason for this is the netdecking. The biggest skill in the game comes from reading the meta and countering it with a custom made deck. When the meta is stale, the top tier decks are known and people just netdeck. Very few players make their own tier 2 decks or F2P decks and play with them.

All of this can change and HS could become much more skilled game if they implement a mode which auto-bans the most played cards. Then netdecking would become useless since the moment more players netdeck would be the moment their cards get a ban. This means the creative players would prosper and their deck building skill would be properly rewarded. However, that means one more thing: There would be a lot of F2P decks in such mode and Blizzard does NOT want this since this would lower their income, which then leads to HS forever remaining a game designed without the deck building competition in mind.

Well, I'm old enough to remember playing Magic the Gathering tournaments when Internet was not a thing ( yes, I'm THAT old ) and you speak the truth my friend. Your idea is very intriguing, and I for sure have nostalgia of the REAL times when ALL decks were homebrew decks!

Guys, there are no good/bad players, only players with A LOT of time at their disposal and can grind to legend and the people that do not have this luxury.

It's just a grind reaching Legend, Heartstone is not a skill intensive game.

Sap is nowhere to be played nowadays.

Maiev is a good card, I would be happy to find her in a booster but I think I'll save my dust for now

Maiev is overrated. I regret crafting her, but she will fit in a few decks still.

Warlock Legendaries are ALL save crafts imo.

Although Shaman feels weak as a class, Lady Vashj seems good.

Same for Hunter and Beastmaster Leoroxx.

All the rest looks a bit meh to me.

Maiev is a lethal enabler for all classes, that gets around Elusive. Go play against a Druid who drops Winged Guardian and then Dormant it to get 9 extra face damage and tell me she's bad again

Otherwise, Solarian is a 7 mana 7/7 with half of a Yogg box, Kargath is a 8 mana 10/10 rush and heal you for 10, Hanar is infinite value, Soul Mirror is a 7 mana board clear, and Evocation is a huge amount of free value with Kaelthas.

Zixor, Reliquary, and Lurker Below are all also good in specific situations, Zixor in a handbuff deck, Reliquary in a general buff deck, and Lurker against aggro

Yeah, cuz the Big Druid is totally not gonna play huge creatures with taunt or assault after the Winged Guardian and he is totally taking 9 damage in the face.

Maiev is good when you are already winning and in a good spot, but against the wall of creatures that the Druid spawns is very meh

posted a message on Opinion on DH nerfs (spoiler: not too happy with them)

for Combo the hardest blow is the nerf on the weapon; Skull at 6 mana is still strong and anyway it was usually discounted to zero mana thanks to the Sunstrider. Another bad thing ( and weird ), when you draw the discounted ( thanks to Skull ) Eye beam lazor and it happens to be "outcasted", his mana cost is not zero anymore but 1 mana. Sucks hard.

Didn't know about that Eye Beam interaction, hasn't happened to me yet. So basically, if drawn from Skull, it would cost 0 if played "normally" and 1 if it's in Outcast? Lol that makes no sense, hopefully they'll fix that.

And yeah the weapon nerf is probably harder I agree.

Yes, that is how it works now. That's why OTK DH has a much much more harder time now.

    ^ very good points.

OTK DH was sooooo good yesterday ( I climbed almost to legend with it without much trouble ), now it feels very cluncky and unreliable. Too bad because it was a blast to play, oh well.

The hardest nerf is on the DH weapon I think.
