     Ah, missed that.  Thanks.

It's past the usual Tavern Brawl update time for me.  You'd think Blizzard would provide a time for us.

posted a message on Which daily and weekly quests to reroll?

Does anybody have any guidance on which daily and weekly quest to reroll?  Assume we're trying to always reroll for the largest expected quest experience payout.  In the old system, I'd always reroll 50 gold quests and never reroll anything above 60 gold.  Trying to figure out the optimal approach with the new quest experience system.

For dailies I currently have: 800/800/1500

For weeklies I currently have: 2500/1750/1750

posted a message on So, what do you think about Duels?

I think it has a ton of potential if they adjust the power variance. I’d also really like it if they allowed us to “Duel” a friend. Similar to how you “challenge a friend”.

posted a message on Hearthstone feeling stale

I also think constructed is a bit stale.  I still play, but mostly for quests.

Two formats I've been playing with friends and loving have been "homebrew arena" and "sealed draft".

With homebrew arena, we use an app to do an arena-type draft.  We chose cards from the same choices simultaneously and don't let each other know our picks.  Then play deck vs. deck for a best of 7.  It's fun to see the different choices we made and, of course, complain about RNG.

Even more fun is doing sealed draft.  We used Tempo Storm's sealed draft tool to form a pool of cards.  From that same pool, we each form 3 decks and play a tournament.  Again, very fun to see the different directions we each took in making decks and what proved most effective.

Lately I've been having much more fun with those limited formats that force a new set of decisions (which cards to put together) each time you play.

posted a message on Tempo Storm Sealed Draft tool not working?

Is anybody else having problems with using Tempo Storm's sealed draft tool?  The link doesn't seem to be working anymore (though the other Hearthstone links seem to work fine).

It is an amazing tool.  Imo, the most fun way to play heathstone with a friend: you both do sealed draft from the same card pool and see what different decks you come up with.  As an aside, it's also indirectly good for Blizzard because it incentivizes getting all the cards.

posted a message on Tempo Storm Sealed Deck Draft: how to copy the SAME draft?

In case it’s useful to anybody searching this thread, I kludged together an approach that works.

1: My friend and I share an account

2: I start the draft and open all the packs

3: My friend logs in the same account on his end and opens the draft I just created

4: We both look over the list and eliminate any legendries we don’t want to craft (we each have large collections, so this works for us)

5: I then start the timer.  At this point, I use the tool to draft my 3 decks.  He does the same thing on his end, but he builds his decks live in HS and does not save them in the tool; that way, when I click save, the only 3 decks that get saved in the tool are my 3 and I can copy them into HS

6: Play 3 decks in a tournament style

I couldn’t figure out how to take advantage of each draft having a unique http string, so if anybody does, please let me know.  Also, we couldn’t figure out how each of us can save our different 3 decks in the tool and still get the deck code (thus one of us has to build the deck in HS and not save it in the tool).

    Best.

Does that mean that if we have an arena run that's not finished in time, we'll get the rewards for however many wins we have and then a free arena ticket?

posted a message on Sealed Draft deck allocation

    Sealed draft deck allocation

My friend and I enjoy dueling using TempoStorm’s Sealed Draft app.  We each draft 3 decks from the identical set of 60 packs opened and then duel.  Very interesting to see the different direction we each took using the same 300 card pool – and which approach seems to be the strongest.

We’re slowly adding expansions and I’m not familiar with Sealed Drafts in general.  So my question is: is there a rule of thumb for how to allocate the 60 packs by expansion?

Bit of a word wall for additional clarity, if needed:

For example, if you’re only using Basic cards, that’s easy: all 60 packs are Basic.  But what about when you add Classic (437 cards) to the Basic set (330 cards)?  Would you us the same proportion as the total card counts (e.g., Basic is 43% of total card counts) which would lead to Basic being 26 packs and Classic being 34 packs?  Note the tool has a hard limit of 60 decks, so that must remain fixed.

How about when you add Naxxramas, which is 54 cards?  That would make Naxx only about 7% of the total card count of Basic + Classic.  So would you only make 4 of the 60 decks Naxx?

I realize the true answer is “do whatever you want”, but I’m looking for a rule of thumb for how Sealed Drafts usually work.  As we add more and more expansions, if we go straight by proportion, seems like we’ll be overweighed towards Basic + Classic.  But I’d love to get additional ideas on how to allocate the 60 decks by expansion.

To date we’ve done Basic + Classic + Naxx + Goblins and Gnomes + Blackrock Mountain and allocated the 60 packs equally (so 12 packs per expansion).  That seems to work fine, but again, looking for additional ideas.

    Thanks.

This game is too expensive for me to play wild.

Fyi, my understanding is that Wild is actually cheaper to play, long term.  This surprised me the first time I heard it.  The logic is that once you get a core set of cards across all the expansions, you only need a couple cards from each new expansion.  As opposed to Standard where you need a ton of new cards from each expansion.

Blizzard said that for Golden CLASSIC packs, as I understand it. Has anybody heard anything specific about the new expansion Golden packs? Seems like they could (though not necessarily) work differently.

Maybe this is reading things too literally, but weren’t the prior posts about golden CLASSIC packs, vs golden scholomance packs?  Could they be treated differently?  And if so, opening strategy could matter...
