I really dislike the card text, maybe someone can help?

The wording seems roughly on par with Corruption, so it seems fine to me.

posted a message on Why is Maexxna bad?

The only reason you would want to play her is to have a more reliable source of Poison on the board, which currently just is not a good enough mechanic since it's too slow, is blocked by Divine Shield and doesn't negate Deathrattle. Sure, it's great against giants, but they trade evenly with her, making her a "conditional" 6 mana Assassinate. I say conditional because you're basically betting on your opponent not being able to remove or Silence her.

Maexxna also has a core design problem in that she doesn't have enough health to even make use of her effect for very long. The best she can be relied on to do is clean up weenies, except the only decks who run such minions are aggro decks that will probably have killed you (or are about to) by the time you even get to play her.

Looking at other 6 mana cost cards, I just don't understand why Maexxna was made a 2/8. Couldn't she have been a 4/9? At least then she survives giants, cockblocks priests, and can actually still be somewhat formidable on her own even if silenced.

@Elementalkin: I believe it was good at 8 mana, but now you don't have that many 1-mana spells to play on the resulting ooze, but I guess you've wanted to make it rely on removing an enemy minion, also, I feel like this one would be more defensive, aka 6/8, 6/7, since it's a tank, but that's just me

Urgh, I'm wrestling with the mana cost a bit. I felt so confident in the card initially, but I started to feel like the "downside" when using it against your opponent just wasn't good enough. Even at 9 mana, cards like Thaurissan and Innervate can give you a lot of wiggle room, but War Golem + Silence + Assassinate for a base 8 mana seemed too strong (especially when coupled with the other aforementioned cards). On the other hand, maybe I'm underestimating the potential of the 2 1-2 Oozes your opponent gets.

For the record, I actually prefer it being used on your own minions so as to be a cool combo, but it didn't make sense to restrict it to friendly minions only considering the "character" of Grobbulus. Maybe that was a mistake, too. Nregh.

I created a card for Warrior since it seems that this class is being ignored this week:

This card is well-balanced in my opinion.  It provides early game utility at the cost of potentially turning later-game cards into it.  It also provides some late game utility.  Is it broken?  Underpowered???

Seems fair, perhaps even better than Soulfire since you're "discarding" but then gaining a spell to replace it. However, my personal view is that I don't want to see anymore cheap, 3 damage spells for classes that otherwise don't have them, even if they do come with a drawback. Like, as good a spell as Darkbomb is, I think it was a mistake to add it from a design point of view. Don't like the homogenization.

Very nice idea, but obviously it is too OP, considering Assassinate. Not only Enlist cancels deathrattle effects, but it also provides a 1/1 token compared to the Rogue spell. You should raise the mana cost...

    Anyway, nice idea!

I agree. Enlist is really "Silence and destroy an enemy minion, then summon a 1/1 Silver Hand Recruit". That's worth at least 7 mana, which puts it 1 mana above Siphon Soul. I'd say gaining a 1/1 minion is better than gaining 3 health.

    - Grobbulus can be used on both friendly and enemy minions.
    - "(and trigger the Battlecry)" refers to the Ooze, meaning it duplicates itself at the end of your turn as it would if you had played it normally.
    - EDIT: Increased mana cost by 1 (and added Naxx logo for flavor).

Do we have to mention or phrase it that the card "transforms"? Just wondering since Druid of the Claw is an example, yet has anomalous wording compared to the rest.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition #23 - FINAL POLL

Narrowing my picks down to three, gonna go with Lady Vashj, Recomblaster, and Strength of Earth Totem. All three seem like fair cards that could easily be real additions to the game. Silver Hand War Horse narrowly missed my vote, but I just have too many nitpicks about it; don't like the wordy name, don't like the card art, don't like that the A of adjacent is capitalized, etc. The rest are wonky.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition #23: Discussion Topic - Check out the poll!

Was it really necessary to put "I don't care" as a poll option? Seems redundant. I know I shouldn't complain, especially since it would appear that the correct answer is going to win out anyway, but still.

Alarm-o-Bot can be taken out with common removal (Darkbomb, Frostbolt, Wrath, etc.). If I understand the effect, Mana Clam cannot, since the Divine Shield would keep blocking the damage. All the other vulnerabilities still apply of course.

Oh yeah, and it's 2 mana, while Alarm-o-Bot is 3.

Little depressing how poor my card did. I mean, 1 vote, sheesh. Not sure if it's because of the image I went with, or the edit I made, and I was really confident in the design, too. Nyeh, oh well. At least this week's finalists are much better than before, except for that unfortunate maymay card that, once again, should be prohibited. I guess "no standards" is better than "possibly biased standards", eh? Anyway, I'll stop whinging.

Narrowing my votes down to 3, I'll go with Call of the Tide, Ironfist Murloc Hurler, and Mana Clam.

Call of the Tide: Potentially pretty strong, but only in a murloc deck. Otherwise it's a +1/+1 Arcane Intellect with Overload: 2, so technically it's a 6 mana draw 3. Combo with Lava Shock, and yeah, seems fair to me.
Ironfist Murloc Hurler: I feel compelled to vote for it for some reason... because it's kinda good. It's silly, but pretty balanced due to the RNG, maybe even a little underpowered. Clever theme. Strange loud noise in my head. Vote for it. Obey.
Mana Clam: I think this is my favorite this week. The effect is perfectly themed, and quite unique as well. I think it does what the trogg cards were designed to do, only a little bit better.

Huh, look at that - all aquatic/murloc themed cards. Interesting coincidence, since Murloc Sorcerer almost got my vote too.

Honorable mentions to Show Off and Earthquake. I really like both cards, but both are overpowered for their cost and the drawbacks don't make up for it.

A 3 mana cost sounds good and you're right about the name. But then I might have to switch it's rarity to epic imo.

    Thanks for the feedback!

     Just curious, but why Shaman?

I believe this needs a bit of clarification. I think it should only target friendly characters, just for balance and flavor reasons, also the wording on the +3 attack and Taunt is hard to distinguish. I'm assuming the Little Big Sister gets the buff, but it could easily be that the target gets the buff based on the wording. I think it should read more like, "Restore 2 health to a friendly character. Gain +3 Attack and Taunt if the target is still damaged."

I realized that myself after I uploaded, but I'm not sure if changing it to "friendly character" would be too big a change and disqualify it. I'll gladly do so if it's not, though, since I agree that makes more sense.

As for the second effect, if the target gained the effects it would read "If the target is still damaged, give it +3 Attack and Taunt". I'm pretty sure "gain" always applies to the triggering card itself.
