I had the same issue. Installed a vpn service on my phone. Issue stopped.
Android Galaxy S9+ --> Avg free trial vpn for a week. No more odd dropout at the moment rhat I am about to win. Also... if i leave the app to go to youtube or amazon prime while it is the other player's turn... I stay connected to the game.
