Hello Hearthstone. Are you bored of the same old decks in ranked right now? Tired of those same exact thing in casual? Since the answer to both is yes, allow me to share with you other fun ways to play Hearthstone. I spend a chunk of my time doing casual stuff like custom games. And people really seem to like this one game I came up with where you take skill completely out of the equation by shuffling 60 Yoggs into both decks. Ever since deck sharing became a thing, playing this with everyone suddenly became possible. So over the last year I’ve been developing this concept so that I can just screw around with friends when I grow tired of Mind Blasts and Mecha’thuns in half my games (with the other half being Zombeasts and Silver Hand Recruits). I also figured I may as well share it in case anyone else wants Hearthstone to be fun. So, here’s how you do this.
Intro- Know the Game Plan
There are 2 decks that are required to make this work. One is a Priest and one is a Rogue. There are 4 steps to set up this game, and I’ll explain the function for all the cards in this game’s set up.
Step 1: Cycle through your deck without milling cards.
At first, this sounds like you need tons of card draw, when in fact that is not the case. I’ve tried putting a bunch of card draw into these decks. But at some point you accidentally mill a card you need because you’re holding onto other important set up cards, or you reach fatigue sooner than you want. There are a couple cards that are for drawing, but I came up with a better solution. If you look here you’ll see that a chunk of the deck is 1-cost spells. This let’s Skulking Geist thin out both decks without overdrawing. If you happened to draw one of these cheap spells, just use it to keep your hand from getting too full. Priests should heal any damage dealt to heroes during this step. Both players should be at 30 health before shit hits the fan.
Step 2: Summon as many copies of Yogg without playing him until the board is full.
a) These are the cards Rogues will need. Rogues do this using Kobold Illusionist + Carnivorous Cube and Deathrattle triggering effects. Try to avoid killing the illusionist until you summon at least 1 yogg. You’ll summon one eventually. You can also cube the Illusionist if you want to increase the odds of summoning a Yogg. Cheap Shot is used to actually kill the cube without needing to trade.
b) These are Priest’s Yogg copying cards. Priests try to summon a Yogg copy from either player’s deck with Mindgames, Shadow Essence, and Barnes. If Yogg is drawn too early, use Embrace Darkness to take a copy of Yogg from the Rogue. Then use Priest’s cloning spells for more Yoggs.
Step 3: Fill both decks with 60 Yoggs.
This step requires VERY specific moves for the next 4 turns, so pay attention.
Turn 1
Rogue- Cast Myra’s Unstable Element [To empty the deck]
Priest- Cast Psychic Scream + Play Brann Bronzebeard
Turn 2
Rogue- Play Harbinger Celestia
Priest- Play Benedictus + Cast Seance on Benedictus
Turn 3
Rogue- Trade with both Benedictuses + Shadowstep the Benedictus + play Benedictus + Shadowstep the Benedictus + play Benedictus
Priest- Play 2nd Benedictus
Turn 4
Rogue- Attack opponent’s full health Benedictus with yours.
Priest- Dragonfire Potion to kill everything.
Step 4: Let RNGesus take the wheel.
Then comes the fun part. Playing a crap ton of Yoggs. But before I show a playthrough of a game I did with my friend, I need to explain a couple rules I set up so the game has some kind of structure.
Rules
1: Neither Player can use their starting hero power after Yoggs are being played.
2: Rogue gets rid of any weapon they’re holding before Yogg.
3: Both players must be at 30 health before Yoggs can be played.
4: Only Yogg generated cards can be played and used (including new hero powers.
5: Only Yogg generated minions can attack, but the enemy board must be cleared before you can go face.
6: Don’t kill the opponent with minions or cards even if you have lethal. You may only kill the opponent by playing a Yogg.
You can tweak some of these rules if you want. After all, it’s a custom game. This is just how I do it.
Mulligan For
Priest- Barnes, Shadow Essence, Mind Games,
Rogue- Skulking Geist, Yogg, Kobold Illusionist
Substitutions
A lot of you didn’t keep your Harbinger Celestia and some never bothered crafting Myra’s Unstable Element. So here are some optional and cheaper substitutions for those cards you may be lacking.
If you’re missing Myra’s Unstable Element or Skulking Geist, don’t worry about it. They’re just there to help make the process go more efficiently.
A huge chunk of the deck is throwaway spells. This just makes it easy to empty your hand and makes Skulking Geist thin your deck more. If you’re missing one of them, put in any spell (preferably 1-cost) that’s easy to get rid of and doesn’t affect the board. Try not to add minions since that’ll decrease Priest’s chances of pulling out a Yogg.
