Welcome to my Jade Malygos deck. Even though this is an original thought by me to create, there are some other variants on the site to look at, but I feel like this one is the most competitive. It's your standard Malygos combo burn, but uses the Jade engine for board presence. The benefits of getting Jade tech in here is that it has ramp in Blossom, board presence that assists the burn removal, and has overall good synergy with the deck.
First impressions: Solid deck, probably Tier 3 atm honestly. It plays well into control or aggro and probably acts as a midrange itself. Hard matchups thus far have been non-Reno Mages. The deck has very powerful draw power, solid removal, standard ramp (even without Mire) and Alex gives the ability to OTK or heal up from lack of Feral Rages. Notable cards that are missing the duplicates are Azure, Ancient, and Living Roots. There is no Mulch, but it hasn't been missed.
Experimental tech choices: Dropped Brann. It didn't have enough targets without Spirit to make it worth it. Alex was a great addition in its place, especially countering Reno. Ancient of War x2 is great with the combo, but the Jade engine can win on its own so Behemoth x2 is better. Mire was replaced with other choices, ramp was replaced with Blossoms. Siding one Living Roots for a Raven Idol. Roots just never seemed like it was ever worth the tempo. Once you have good Spell Damage on the board, sure, but overall Raven could fetch better options.
Overall: Good druid draw, good druid ramp, poor presence if Jade engine doesn't get rolling early. Save cards for the OTK. It might be a pain to draw into the one last Legendary you need, but the ability to OTK is worth it. There is no real way to protect Malygos or Aviana from removal or Hex/Poly if you play it early and then you're in trouble. Play it as Ramp druid and drop the Jade as needed to cycle early.
Though it probably doesn't need to be made obvious, the deck is a work in progress. Choosing the exact tech to put in the deck is really difficult. There are a lot of key cards to both archetypes and getting them to synergize requires some difficult cut choices. The deck will be updated constantly until I feel it is in Tier 2 and can do well at Rank 10 and under. Suggestions/feedback are welcome.
Dropped Brann for Alex. Helps immensely with the Reno matchup and without Spirits there were not enough Jade BC targets to make it worth it.
Dropped 1x Living Roots for 1x Raven Idol. Not a super amazing swap, but having two roots was almost always bad. Idol can fetch different options to help the respective situation for the same cost.
Current thoughts: Try to get an early Jade cycle going. The board presence will give you more life going into the combo. It might seem obvious to save health, but without Rages, you really need to watch out for really strong aggro. Even though this is Malygos, don't be afraid to use your burn. Alex and a 9/9 Jade Golem can win the game with no burn assists. Raven wasn't fetching a ton of useful cards, but I didn't mind only having one root. Trying Lunar Visions to help with bad draws and accelerate through the mid game.
