The main goal of the deck is to triple Azurite Murloc's battlecry with Shudderblock to transform minions on board to those of +9 cost, plus transforming minions in your hand and deck by +3 in cost (strangely the application in the deck and on board are different).
My take on the idea is to remove a few cards with low topdeck value and replace them with some more control cards like Baking Soda Volcano and Golganneth, the Thunderer, which also has great synergy with Shroomscavate for the cost reduction and getting double Titan activations in one turn.
Battlecry minions have been kept to a minimum to offer ideal tutors from Fairy Tale Forest, which is why the remaining minions have either end of turn effects, generate a mini in hand like Nostalgic Gnome, or are particularly sticky minions like Nesting Golem.
I would recommend Zilliax Deluxe 3000 have the Recursive Module + Twin Module combo to give Zilliax Deluxe 3000 a battlecry that can be copied by Shudderblock, creating more copies that then get shuffled into the deck the more he is played. Each copy in the deck will be transformed into an 8 cost minion.
What Ziliax parts?
At the bottom of my description I recommend using Recurring + Twin as an option to have Shudderblock multiply the Twin Module's Battlecry. If you do this, you will shuffle more 5-cost copies into the deck that will all transform into 8-cost minions when you play The Azerite Murloc.
However, if you'd prefer to keep battlecries to the absolute minimum, then you can choose Recurring + Virus to still git multiple copies back in the deck without a battlecry.
This is the most fun deck I played in the three hours of the expansion so far!
Glad to hear it! I'm actually just about to craft this deck and try it out myself now that I've opened all my packs :D
May I ask why the 2x Whelp Wranglers? They seem a bit offset with the flavour of the deck.
So the Whelp Wrangler are meant to generate 1-cost minions to potentially become either 4-cost minions in hand or 10-cost minions if played before the Shudderblock + Azurite Murloc combo goes off. They were also chosen because they are not battlecy minions, so Fairy Tale Forest can more easily search for the deck's key minions.
That all said, I do acknowledge that they are a weak topdeck and I may end up replacing them if they don't seem to work well. Possibly with Walking Mountain or Giant Tumbleweed!!!.
Oh I see, that's smart! But as you say, they're a weak topdeck.
That being said, the idea of generating card tokens to boost shudderblocks effect is very good. I'd recommend you use the new mechanic Miniaturize with minions that of course have no battlecry of which I find very interesting the Nostalgic Gnome (because it also accelerates your deck) and, on a lower priority, the Nostalgic Initiate.
Let me know your thoughts, great job with the deck!
Funny you say that because I actually did used to have Nostalgic Gnome in this deck list, but I changed it to an Ancestral Knowledge for additional card draw. But if Whelp Wrangler doesn't feel good enough, adding Nostalgic Gnome back in might be another good option.
One advantage to Whelp Wrangler is it can be played early to generate more than 1 token, and since the tokens have taunt they can further protect the early play, with the downside that they are much weaker later in the game. Nostalgic Gnome can't be played as early and only generates one Mini, but it is more useful at any stage of the game.
Thinking about it as I type this, the deck does already have a good number of options for 2 mana it can play that maybe it is a better idea to replace them now.
Thanks for the credit :D
Honestly hyped for this deck, and probably the first I’ll try when the expansion drops. Definitely will try both versions
You're welcome^^. Yeah let me know how things go once the expansion launches!
