What I've noticed in SA's meta are two things:

1.) All decks need a way to deal with gigantic minions, and

2.) Card draw is so efficient that decks should be running a lot of it so long as they can't play Curvestone a la Paladin.

This spell damage deck checks both of these boxes.  Serpentshrine Portal doesn't do any one thing partiucularly well which is why it's not in here; in its place are Lightning Bolts, Molten Blasts and Lava Shocks for more reach and surefire payoffs.

Lightning Bloom is the deck's quintessential mulligan.  If it can cheat out a Squallhunter or Watcher early or empty a hand for Voracious Reader then it should always go for it.  Keep in mind that overloading for more than your current mana will only overload for however many crystals you currently have - you'll never have less than 1 mana on a given turn!  Stack tons of Overload all day and forget about it!
