I'm sure you've all faced this priest deck. It is designed around a few insane legendary minions, and using Barnes and Eternal Servitude to ensure you get massive power out early and keep it there.
I can't stand it. I have no idea how to beat this playing Paladin, unless you get a wicked curve and your opponent basically flatlines.
It has made me hate Priest more than I already did, which is quite the feat.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to play against deck? I am basically auto conceding as soon as I can against it, it spares me from wasted time.
If it doesn't have Barnes in the first 4 turn you have pratically 4 free turn without anything on board from your opponent. It can do a threat at turn 6 with Shadow Essence, but it may not have it by that time so it'll just try to respond on what you play. Then it will be forced to play its few minions by turn 9 or 10, if it draws them.
The deck can be for sure insane if it gets some perfect draws (like every other deck) but it's not that oppressing when it is not ticking right.
I use two spellbreakers. It doesn't really help. If Barnes summons a 1/1 copy of Ysera or some other nightmare, using silence is almost worse - the card then loses the 1/1 and instead becomes a giant threat.
You can play mill rogue or you can play shaman with devolve or hex removal effects. Other than that you can just hope they don't have Barnes on turn 4...
Paladin has tones of tools to answer big priest. Aldor. Equility. Make it a 3/3 card that costs you 6 theres the 2 mana version as well though i dont think thats good enough to see play. If you let it steam roll you then your just getting out played.
The win loss % of that deck favors paladin. Usually you need to tech if your getting alot of paladins just to make sure you keep the 50/50.
With pally i'm not sure what card would deal with it, but in rogue you can sap the thing Barnes brings out to get rid of it for 5 turns without letting them resurrect it.

Hey man, this might be reaching a bit too much, but if you really want to stop Rez Priest you could run Tinkmaster Overspark as a tech card. If they play their huge guy then you can transform it to stop them from resurrecting it. It could really throw a wrench in their plans.
It's a super inconsistent deck, not really much to worry about.
This. If you get stomped, just concede and queue another. I was playing my own version with 2x Blood of The Ancient One to rank 5, and I had a blast with it, very funny at times...BUT it is a 51% winrate deck, at best, it depends highly on drawing Barnes and adequate removals early, depending on the opponent. It wasn't unusual for me not to be able to play anything for 5-7 turns...
I play ez big ez priest myself and I have to say I lose to aggro all the time unless I roll an Obsidian Statue off of Barnes or Shadow Essence. On top of that, shamans just Hex the small copies of my big guys and priest uses Potion of Madness so I can't resurrect them. And if I don't draw any of my copy summoners in the first 5 - 6 turns of the game I usually lose.
The key reason you believe it's cancer and the same reason why quest rogue was believed to be really cancer is because if the deck gets it's draws your situation is basically hopeless. They summon big minion after big minion and completely steamroll you. EqualityConsecration? boom, more big minions. Thing is, the deck doesn't always get it's draws together and when it doesn't you basically get about 7 free turns to do whatever the heck you wnat.
Barnes shouldnt even have been printed, its the same shitty card design like tuskar totemic, which roflrolls win/loss on turn 4.
And like Tuskar its just a question of time when it gets nerfed. Not because the card or the deck is op but its verryverry bad designed as a coinflip turn4. which is unfun as hell and the same reason Tuskar got nerfed.
There are good decks, and there are utterly ridiculous ones... Playing 30 minutes againts a guy who keeps on stealing your stuff, resurecting OP stuff, clearing your board and basically having an answer for each of your plays and then still having enough steam to completely wreck you by playing some OP DK card is not exactly what I would call "fun" ....
devolving his 9 mana 1-1 on turn 4 makes full healthy 8-drop (kinda tirion) which makes it even worse. hate the priests since i run hunter from my f2p career :) i think the only way to counter that deck is donate -- that's the way bb see it

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
Roll with some silences I guess?

Check out my fun and innovative decks here:
Beat your opponent to a pulp with Revenant Warrior or outlast them with Demon Reno Warlock.
You can't stop the signal.
I've come up against this deck once at R3 in Wild as a Dude Paladin. This was the result.

I consider this a really lucky game with some clutch adapts. I really had no business winning this.
Try the deck I created, it works pretty well against control like decks, I designed it to do this job and I wrote an entire matchup guide !

I don't really klnow what to say, for me, Priest is the same problem as druid, something needs to be done...
