This isn't a new idea I imagine but here goes. I think a "nuke from orbit" nerf would be to take away the start of game wording. Make it like Justicar where the upgrade becomes a Battlecry. Perhaps adjust their cost and stats to allow them to be played earlier. Genn becomes a 4 mana 4/3 and Baku a 5 mana 4/5 or something like that.
As a result these cards would see as much play as Justicar did.
Another option is a King Togwaggle Shudderwalk deck in wild with Loathweb. You exchange the deck AND increase the cost of the ransom to 10 mana. If they spend the whole turn playing it, you just Shudderwalk it back again, so they can either win with cards in hand or give up.
This might make me craft Grumble...
Nah, the real Wild ransom/azalina deck is a hyper defensive Aviana/Kun deck, and it is surprisingly effective!
Indeed. It got the better of me once and all I could do was be impressed. :)
I got to 12 wins with Dude paladin that had an equality and Avenging Wrath tech. Faced 8 secret mages (favored in that matchup but still lost to one), 2 warlocks (unfavored but I highrolled both) 1 Murloc Pally (lost), 1 Kingsbane Rogue, 2 Hunters early on with garbage cards like Crocolisk and the 1/4 taunt Gorilla.
Dude Paladin is pretty good if you face 8 mages and high roll 2 warlocks. I was playing on mobile so don't have a code to share. It was like most other lists except i put in Equality x 1 and Avenging Wrath x 1 as tech cards. Wrath won me 2 or 3 games as a finisher if you can believe it.
I still don't understand how I can queue up against the same person twice in a row in Standard Rank 12 HS. And of course he/she gets perfect draws both games!
The higher in Rank you go, the lower the player pool to match up against. So it was likely a function of both of you searching for a game at that time and being close in the hidden MMR that Blizzard uses.

Remember last year when they gave us 70 packs for the price of 50? I miss those days.

I am almost at all 9. 4 more wins with Rogue then 39 with Shaman. Knocked out the final 4 (Hunter then Druid) over the past month or two.

I like to play him early on in the expansions since he became available. You can actually get a decent win rate before good decks get figured out.

Same as above. Just to prove to myself that I could do it. I did and that was that. Much easier on my time and my sanity to just get to R5 each month.

If you have the dust to do it and want them golden, there are no downsides. I did this last year and plan on doing it again.

My guess is that it will be available until the Standard Year rotation happens.

Not a bad idea actually. I have 2 right now and one is half done. Guess I'm not playing anymore today...
