So, Season 6 of the WCDC has come to an end! They grow up so fast. *sniff*
We have gone on many adventures here in the WCDC. In this magical place, we have Expanded Horizons with new expansions, with RazorofArtorias's Servitors of the Loa expansion and his Voodoo mechanic as the winner, mon! We have competed yet cooperated to win many different WCDCs. We have traversed through each of the mod's mini-comps.
So what's the point of this thread? This thread is for you guys to voice your opinions on how the competition is run and to discuss any changes you would like!
We do have one thing to show off. Earlier in the Season, there was a lot of discussion about how posting on Page One of the Submission Thread almost guaranteed you wouldn't make the finals. In the spoiler below is a bunch of data from both Season 5 and Season 6 for you to peruse.

*These competitions technically had one extra page, but since there were so few entries on these pages they were merged with the previous page for the purposes of scoring.
Other than that, feel free to bring up whatever concerns or ideas you might have, we'll be reading the thread and trying to respond as often as possible.
We can't wait for what is to come, and let's just say that for the next big comp will be death-defying!
You are not alone :DJust want to say cg on a good season. It definitely had its ups and downs, but overall it was good, as always :) Shadows can finally get some sleep with you guys stepping up, so thats also very nice for him xaxa :D
For the issue at hand, the page 1 voting, i dont rly have any constructive suggestion myself, so i will let someone else start us off, if they have any good idea.
I really liked Asylum's Gauntlet this year. I'm not sure what you guys are planning this time, or in the future, but I think it would be great to have more Class competitions styled like that (I guess like Expansion competitions could be like that, too). The big problem with that is you need someone willing to both come up with the themes and sit the competition out (besides ShadowsOfSense, since you need a second person/mod to run the concepts by). I was thinking, what if past winners ran "Gauntlet" class competitions (i.e., came up with the challenges each stage)? I would be willing to do one.
One serious problem I noticed in Expansion / Class Creation competition is the decreasing in votes in later rounds. I don't know if that's because a lack of promotion or as someone suggest that people would usually just interested if their work is also showcased. What do you guys think would be a good idea to fix this?

This is a very hard problem to tackle, it stems from the fact, that the deeper in the comp you are, the more of a content must person review and we all know how fast the attention span decreases on multiple token cards, let alone entire sets of cards.
Usually, in these comps, later in the comp the majority of voters r only the contestants themselves or rly interested members of WCDC community, casual user will just not bother to read through all the content, it just takes way too much time. Its sad, but i cant rly blame them to be honest.
Im not sure how to deal with that, the only way i can think of improving this is to have a better presentation of the classes, but its not that easy ... its a little bit less fair towards the contestants themselves, since its hard to catch attention with just a few cards and a name/phrase alone, when the entire concept might actually be rly amazing and well thought out. I suppose it would be on everyone to not make too complex class/expansion/etc, but that kinda defeats the purpose of the comp, it should be about creating something u love and want to make, not something that appeals to the broader audience ... but i mean it is a contest after all, so i suppose that technically the most important aspect that participant should considered for that format is the mass appeal. You can still do whatever, but u should know what the consequences of your choices will likely be.

I think one of the biggest problems with the competition last time around, was the lack of coverage, since the competition unfortuneatly took place in the middle of a new expansion.
The next one we're planning however looks more promising in this regard, since it will take place just about when everything has started to settle from Kobolds and Catacombs.
I think the biggest variable however, is whether the other FC mods and i are able to pressure Flux into giving the competition some much needed front page coverage.

There should also be an increased focus on how the news post is formated and what is included in it. Despite every news post covering the basics of said part of WCDC and redirecting you to the respective topics, every weeek ppl ask questions like "but where r the tokens?" etc. Also it should get them *somehow* to actually follow through and go to those respective topics. Its nice to have front page coverage, but if the post fails to deliver, its actually not that useful in the end.
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3

I would also think about making these competitions a little bit smaller (i.e. fewer moving parts), saving us from going through 4 rounds and reducing it to two or so, with a focus on making fewer high-quality cards rather than having to introduce too much pack filler— anyone can make pack filler.

Not a bad idea, i suppose some restriction would still have to be made on like the amount of cards and even mby rarities to some extent, but it could be more like "introduce a theme/style/archetype you are goin for with the cards u make" rather than "do a full class/exp/adventure" with every single detail. Every new set makes this that much harder, complicated and time consuming.
Not only it is exhausting to review, it is even more exhausting to design. And anyone who would actually want to do the whole thing could finish it outside of the competition.
It would probably also make more ppl participate and bring more ppl to the mix on its own, which would be an upside.
Maybe it's just coincidence but I feel like there are quite a few submitters who are consistently in the finals. They could just be good card designers but I think there's also this sense that they're well known and have a reputation on this site and therefore garner more upvotes, which is kind of annoying. I know there's not really anything you can do about it though- still you guys are doing great!

Googles “Rambunctious”.
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.

This is my first full season creating cards here and I can't be happier.
I don't have any suggestions but if I think about something to improve you'll know!
I think there is a bug with the Final Poll.
Whenever i reach the finales, it seems like the other contestants gets more votes.
I want a new title, but Flux won't let me have one,
