The Lich King Boss Guide - The Frozen Throne
The final boss of the Frozen Throne's Icecrown Citadel adventure is The Lich King!
Fight Details
On the Lich King's first turn, he will play a cheat card based on the class you are playing.
- Purge the Weak - No cheap minions for Druid. You best be ramping up!
- The Hunted - Hunters are damaged for every minion in their deck. Ouch!
- The True Lich - Mages only get 1 health? What is this sorcery?
- Fallen Champions - Don't let your minions die, Paladins. The Lich King will get them!
- Shut up, Priest - Mmpphhhhhh!!! Priests are not allowed to speak.
- The Price of Power - Oh sorry Rogues, did you want spells? No spells for you!
- Necrotic Plague - Better have some buffs, Shamans. Your whole deck becomes 1/1s.
- Soul Reaper - Have duplicates in your deck Warlock? Take some damage!
- The True King - Warriors see the Lich King sit at 130 total armor and 30 health.
The fight doesn't have anything really special to it at the start. Keeping control of the board is a requirement at this point. When possible you should deal some damage to to his face, but don't make that a priority.
On turn 7, The Lich King will play Frostmourne. At this point, all minions on his side of the field are killed, 6 Trapped Soul are spawned for him, and he goes immune thanks to his new hero power, Harvest of Souls.
Your goal now is to get rid of the Trapped Souls as soon as possible to break the immunity and get rid of the weapon. It should be noted that Frostmoune also goes immune, preventing charges from being used. After all Trapped Souls are destroyed, The Lich King loses his hero power and gains a new one - Remorseless Winter.
Once he's gone into this next phase, the fight has no new mechanics to it. Simply take him out before you end up dead due to the increasing damage every turn from his hero power.
Watch Out For These Cards
- Anti-Magic Shell - If he has a bunch of minions in plays, expect the worst, expect this to be dropped.
- Frostmourne - Since he and his weapon are immune during this phase, you want to get it over with ASAP.
- Looming Presence - Not much you can do about it but just be warned that he does have it in his deck. If you know you'll just have gotten enough damage for lethal next turn, be prepared to cry when he drops it.
Rewards
There are two rewards from defeating this fight.
- Clear the fight once to receive a Frozen Throne card pack.
- Clear the fight with all nine classes to receive the Prince Arthas hero skin for Paladin.

I kind of get the point of those who think this is fun and challenging... but it really isn't when you're on a limited collection and especially on limited time.
Play 20 minutes of Control Warrior before realising your N'Zoth/C'Thun/Kel'Thuzad are again stuck in the bottom 5 cards of your deck. Without knowing whether you have a 1/10, 1/100 or 1/1000 chance of even succeeding with the deck you have built - that is not my definition of fun. It's tedious and frustrating is what it is.
Conversely some classes are just downright dumb. Throw together a Murloc deck, stomp home (Rogue, Paladin, Shaman... very creative. Not).
Ez first try, kind of "budget" patron/berserker warrior.AAEBAQcCgQ6NDg4WS50CkAPUBPwEjgWRBvsM5xGCrQKGsALMzQK6zgIA

the lich king played 2 frostmourne against me how is that possible ??
i played as a warrior and after the 7nd turn i played brawl i killed evry soul and when i passed the tudn he played an another frostmourne hows that possible ??
Shaman with a lot of battlecry or deathrattle summons does well combined with evolve. I was able to consistently build a board and finish him up with either bloodlust or Doomhammer+Rockbiter. Cards like Nerubian egg and Devilsaur Egg are especially nice as you can pop them yourself as 1/1s.
I won with priest (very cheap)

A list, please? I'm stuck too.
Did you seriously just pray with alarm-o-bot for most classes? If so, that's some impressive patience.
i restarted over 60 times and haven't got both [card]Stubborn Gastropod[/card] and Alarm-o-Bot
which one do you guys think is the easiest
Definitely Priest.
Priest and Druid are the easiest. You can pretty much just play constructed decks with those two fights. The other seven will require special decks.
Shhh.
Warlock is also fairly easy if you can make a decent Reno deck
i just took him down whit a strait wild dragon priest deck no fuzz nothing special in it, not even the best dragon deck since i lack some cards.
but my ramp druid was pure shit so that one i need to netdeck...and prolly rest of the classes..
Finally got him. I enjoyed the "play quirky decks/cards that you wouldn't normally think of" aspect, but...the "pray to RNGesus that you have the right draws at the right times, that Anyfin doesn't bring back Finja and that Arthas doesn't coin out a 2/3 on the first turn" parts were more frustrating than anything. With the exception of Warrior, the Frostmourne phase was more or less "did I draw Doomsayer/Shadow Word: Horror in time? No? Restart", there didn't seem to be much in the way of strategy to beating that stage, just...have the right card or start over, because he'll deal too much damage if you let things stay for even a turn or two.
This is the worst experience I've ever had playing this game, and that includes every game against pirate warrior. The fact that this fight outright requires certain cards to even have a chance at winning is ludicrous. I'm not fucking crafting epic murloc cards just for this one encounter, and blizzard needs to learn to balance their pve so it's possible without all the cards.
