Congratulations, this is one of the worst threads on this hellsite. No, conceding has never been poor sportsmanship. Yes, there is sometimes a delay on conceding when the game processes queued actions. Yes, you're a moron for thinking people concede more now than they used to based on literally no evidence.
I used to play a decent amount of chess when I was younger so I always view my opponent having lethal as checkmate. Conceding at that point is like putting your king on its side. I usually emote well played before I concede. I am surprised that can be seen as poor sportsmanship
I do this all the time. I always wondered if it bothered people. On the one hand, they get a star/gold. For some players, that is all that matters.
Then there are players like you. Thank you so much for the satisfaction. Also, knowing that this kind of thing bothers people will make more players do it more often.
I agree with the OP. Conceding seems so habitual on Hearthstone that it's as if your opponent is hovering over the button. This can be timed in a really annoying way to interrupt your action, while not actually saving more than a few seconds. It can be interpreted as poor sportsmanship or a quitter's mindset, whether or not there is some rationale behind it. Sometimes conceding is appropriate and if so: I end my turn, let my opponent see their next card, hit concede, and maybe emote "well played".

I don't play chess, but I look at it the same way.
There's really no good reason for me to sit around and wait for the opponent to play as if I actually had a chance, so I just concede or kill myself - with a "well played" if the match was fun or interesting.
If my opponent did something creative i ALWAYS let him finish me. Im not sitting through Exodia Mage or Shudderwock ever
The #1 rage inducing moment for me was when i got Mimirons Head to stick and summon V-07-TR-on, after i had completed my Paladin Quest. I was just about to summon Galvadon to have both on board at the same time and my opponent conceded. I bet i sent him 50 Friend requests after that
This is how perception is a big deal. Because to me staying around until the last blow is more of an insult.
To me, leaving early is effectively saying "you've proven yourself strong/better than me. We don't have to continue to show that." Thus it's like telling your opponent "you have checkmate. Good job."
In contrast, when I stay, I'm NOT giving you the 'victory'. I'm questioning you. I'm staying because I think I still have a chance to win, because you DIDN'T prove that you've secured the win. When I hit 'end turn' I think I will get another turn. When it looks obvious you'll win, I keep playing because it's NOT obvious enough or I think there's something you didn't take into account.
If there's lethal, and you know you have lethal, and I know it's lethal, and I hit 'end turn', that's almost an insult. I believe you will screw up. I believe there's a chance you didn't see the lethal, or you'll BM and mess up the turn, or miscalculate. If I leave mid' final swing' it's because then and only then that I believe you WILL kill me.
I know I'm probably unique in this mentality so I really don't view other people's actions that way. But it's how I play. And it shows that your way isn't The Only Way.
Accept the win. If what you want is some flashy fatality, that's what the AI is for. Against other people, they aren't going to think like you do, so just accept the win as is.
I concede for two reasons ... to get on to my next game, and so my opponent doesn't feel the need to play 7 cards, when I am at 1 HP and have no minions on board. I will however, usually stick around for an OTK, because I know the feeling of having set them up, only to have your opponent concede kinda sucks.

This is a good comparison. Now to make it more realistic imagine if you had to sit in checkmate while the other guy ran all his pawns across the board to make queens and then took all your peices one by one while you couldn't do anything.
Welcome to Hearthstone, this is why conceding is appropriate.
OP, do you really pretend us Hearthstone players to behave like the nicest people in the world, that we should care about the most silly things just to not annoy our opponents, while in real life a huge part of the population doesn't give a shit about others and would love to see everyone dead or at least praying for their lives while suffering the most terrible of agonies? Is this for real? Are you serious? Do you live under a rock or what?
But of course, do not get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the world, I love it and all the shit in it. ;)
If you have obvious lethal, I will concede as soon as possible, because fuck you. You know you won, I know you won, I won't let you have the satisfaction. This is not a game where sportsmanship comes in to play.
i liked ur style dude clean and simple

Outside of Arena, no point in sticking around in case if they misclick or DC etc. When you dead you dead.

If I know a battle is lost I concede. There are two reasons for this:
1. It bugs me when people have lethal and then they fuck about playing a bunch of cards just to be a dick.
2. I can move into the next battle quicker and waste less time when I know I've lost.
Usually depends for me but if I can see an opponent starting to snowball I concede or find a way to take myself out just for my satisfaction.
well I can wait 45 seconds for you to stop BMing and wrap it up, or I can conceed and get to the next game faster.
I try to not concede, let my opponent feel the satisfaction.
Unless he won with an irritating (to me) deck or if he is clearly BM'ing me.

You know, a year or two back, I think there was a thread on how not conceding when you've obviously lost is considered BM to some people ...

Just like all those assholes who don't let you take their king after you checkmate them!
Well, after reading through I am now very sorry I said anything at all.
