Not sure if serious. Seems like we're all having a good time in here. Did I miss some deleted threads?
Yes, last night there was about a page of escalating vitriol. I'm glad that Rabidwhale came in to clean it up so that the thread does reflect us all having a good time.
Yea, this average Joe does really enjoy these forums for the most part. I can predict what a thread (and its commentators) are all about from the title. I don't bother with these because the sweet moderators on these forums are pretty dang quick to close the door before too much trash blows in. Would be nice to have Hearthstones forum mods on other forums I enjoy frequenting. *raises a Quervo Black*, this ones for the mods to keep being BAMFs on here and of course, to my fellow mediocre stoners!
Well, I will like you guys to know (and maybe I should be making a "below average" player thread lol, but I have played for months and months. I am college educated and beyond, I have a great RL, great job, great little family, and have not even broke the big "30" mark in age and I own every single last card in this game atm, yes, every legendary from every class to every neutral. I find a lot of pleasure in collecting cards (once I realized I was not a legendary player), I complain when frustrated, and I used to be the habitual "netdecker".
Let me go on record to let you guys know, while having every card in the game is nice, all of those orange cards, purple ones, my extensive collection of rare and uncommons (i have a zoo and handlock deck that is made of pure golden cards). The legendary card is one huge smoke screen because of the little orange gem. there are, I would say, 10 (definitely more to the above average player) legendary cards that really do make game changing differences. Leeroy, rag, and alex are, to me, the top neutral legendary cards and Grommash is, once again imo, the strongest class legendary (its synergy its unreal).
I play within the ranks of 13-5 mostly and I have fun with that. I am currently only rank 17 (after getting to 11 and tanking to 20 in 5 days due to the difficult time I was having adjusting to the mage/hunter orgy on the laddy now.. at least at those ranks at those times). I play the game for fun, I play at high ranks yes, but I still think I am below average because unlike you guys, I have the resources to own/craft any card I want, yet I have never been even close enough to sniff legend.
Granted my job is time consuming, I do play wow also in a hardmode progression raiding guild which both take up a lot of time of mine, which is ok and I am happy about. Enjoy life, enjoy hearthstone, keep busting open those packs and you'll get those cards I promise and maybe one day you and I will meet on the ladder and your 1-2 "great" legendary cards in your build along with your average skill, will give you a guarantee star against my "decorated" deck with a below average player behind it ^_^. Be patient, have fun, once again, enjoy life (most importantly), your fun in hearthstone seems to be in its infancy and it will grow, save this post and mark my words, I promise
~Cheers
p.s. tl:dr, I get it, but I also understand where yous guys are coming from. (try dating an extremely, smoking hot woman that HAS hit legendary while you can't...lulz)
Sounds very much like myself, but you put it better than I would have, so I'll just agree with this post ^^ :D
Currently hanging out at rank 15, because I just came back from a family hol in Spain - Trust me, drinking cocktails by the pool in hot sunshine beats worrying about your rank in an online card game ;)
Hey, y'all. I'm that guy, too. I've dropped some money on packs, and I got lucky enough to get five legends...and unlucky enough that 2 of them were repeats. So I've disenchanted an Onyxia and a Al'Akir the Windlord because I already had them. Technically my fifth legend was a golden Harrison Jones, but instantly DE'd him for Leeroy Jenkins, because natch.
I'm only able to play like 3-4 games a day, so I'm never going to make Legend, and I don't really care. I've played all the major netdecks, and I build decks here on hearthpwn like a crazy person. Seriously, click on my name and go to my profile and look at the decks. There's a lot of them. Most of them I've actually played for a dozen games or so, but I'm always moving along and coming up with the next great idea that isn't as good as I want it to be.
I don't have a lot of time to play, but I'd love to join some sort of casual player's small group for deckbuilding and theorycrafting. Some of my favorite projects have been working with friends to accomplish goals like "optimize an Inner Fire deck" or "build around Secretkeeper and win 10 games." That kind of thing makes Hearthstone fun for me -- way more fun than trying to defeat the meta or ladder up or whatever.

I looked at this card originally and I thought, you know, it's a card, and you play this card. The card will be that card that you play so you're playing a card. So, it is one thing to play a card. If you're opponent doesn't really have any cards, the card will screw up the card pretty hard, and that means it's a pretty good card.

For the Secretkeeper deck, definitely go Hunter. The secrets are cheap enough that you can play several at once, and strong enough that they cannot just be ignored.
After Naxx comes out I may try a Paladin Secretkeeper deck - but if I do that, I'll definitely need to craft some Divine Favors.
Well I can honestly say I'm an average player. I did construct one deck and put it up on here that people seemed to like. I only ever got as far as rank 2, two seasons back. I spent a little when i first started but haven't paid anything since they started handing out card backs. I pretty much have the core legendaries and that's about it. By core I mean rag, cairne, ysera, alex, and bloodmage. Also got Tirion which has helped a ton for my pally deck. I've been lucky enough to get a few from packs. I've also managed 12 wins in arena twice. I'd like to get to legendary in ladder just once, but I don't really seem to have the time. I feel the pally deck I've constructed can make it. I just haven't put in the grind time. Highest I got was rank 7 with it last season in the last 2 days coming from rank 12 so I shall see. Other than that salute to the average players.
We've all laughed at the newbies complaining about the stagnant meta or the 'overpowered' priests.
The meta is stagnant though... Over the past two weeks, what has changed in the meta that didn't exist a month ago? What new top decks have come out in the past couple weeks that you never seen before? I mean no disrespect, but I'd like to hear what you have heard that the "newbs" haven't? I don't mean "well this deck has this card instead of this card", I mean completely new strategies.
I think at this point the playerbase is large enough and the cardbase is small enough that it's safe to say 'completely new' strategies don't exist. The best you're going to get is small twists on something that's been done before. Hell, a week ago I sat down and talked myself out a completely new-to-me Priest deck that was unlike anything that my friends or I had seen or tried with Priest up till that point...and found out that some dude posted something just three cards off from what I came up with as his 'I just made Legend with this' deck eight days prior.

Reading you posts makes me really feel better. :D While reading through the posts it sometimes felt as if I am the only low-rank-not-yet-12-wins-person. (That might also also be due to the sad fact that I only have two battle.net friends who are not playing HS at all. Why are all my gaming friends not playing this awesome game?!)
But don't get me wrong. I really love this game and I enjoy playing it 95% of the time. I am happy if I manage to make a game turning play, I am happy if correctly predict my opponent's move, I am happy whenever I get more than 3 victories in Arena and I absolutely love opening packs and I would never DE a golden card but love to use it (as with any other CCG/TCGs I am at least 50% collector). And I am happy if I change something in my Boring-Standard-Zoolock-Deck to adjust to the mini-meta at my ranks and it pays off.
It did, I just hit Rank 10 (from 12 with no Stars) yesterday with an awesome winning streak. There's hope my fellow averagies! Enjoy the small progress (like my first Hunter Arena 5-3, yay)

Yay! Thanks! And rank 9! I don't know what's happening right now but I am happy about it as long as it lasts. I hope other average players can report similar successes?

If anyone here is in the Pacific time zone, I've proposed a casual player's league here.
